"Hello nanny plum we've been expecting you." The voices say in unison like they've been rehearsing for hours.

Nanny plum waits for her eyes to focus in the slightly darker atmosphere of greggs. Sitting right in the middle of the store is wise old elf. Plums first love.

Plums first and only real love. He sat with his crooked little blue elf hat yet it was missing the red leaf that used to sit poking out of it.

Nanny had stolen it the last time she saw him as a reminder, it was wrapped around her wand like a jacket and every time she saw it she felt like crying yet she was a girlboss who gaslit herself into not crying over an old man who didn't even prioritise her.

"What are you doing here elf? I left and you should have moved on."

"How can I move on when you invade my every sense at all times you won't leave me alone and it's time for that to stop. Either end this for good by telling me why you left or come back to me, I'll accept that you will never fully be with me, I understand you have over 750 lovers including the muscular and handsome Gaston who is currently pressed up against the window looking like he wants to murder everyone but I'm sorry plum."

"Oh— well nothing I can do about that Wise Old Elf I'm going to go back to my self discovery journey and you need to give up and stop acting like a baby."

"At least call me by my real name if you're going to leave, it's my dying wish."

Dying? Dying? Flipping finally.

"There's no reason for me to stay Cedric Elf, goodbye" she muttered slowly as if waiting for him to stop her abruptly.

He does.

"Nanny please! You're my one love and I've left all my possessions to you, my grandchild, my treehouse, my money, my power. I just need to know that you've at least thought of me at some point."

"Of course I've thought of you Cedric, you always were my first love and yes I thought of you every day. But we just weren't meant to be I didn't want to watch you die."

"Sure, sure, sure, sure." He repeats over and over rolling his eyes, "I knew to never trust you, you look like a sweet plum but in reality you are as bitter as a grapefruit."

The shocking words caused plum to gasp, covering her mouth and take a step back. Gaston gasped from behind the glass, others along the street had joined to hear what was going on inside their favourite store.

"I never lied to you Ced, but you're ability to never listen to anyone but yourself is one of the many reasons im glad you're about to die. I would have done it myself in nature hadn't decided to take its course. How ironic you live to help nature but even nature doesn't want you. No one wants you, you old bat."

Whistles, shouts, boos, and cheers were heard from all directions, nanny plums shocking words caused quite the reaction and she knew she had said just the right thing.

"If that's what you think then kill me. Right here, right now."

All eyes widened, including plums. She tried to stay unfazed though as she pulled out her magic wand that had a new purple glow. She looked at the red leaf wrapped around her wand as she pointed it at him.

And without taking another second to think she uttered the words she wished she could have said to herself. The beans of light and dark sparkles overtook the room and when plum opened her eyes, Cedric Elf, Wise Old Elf, was dead.

Everyone was silent.
