"Violet!! Your mom is here!" Dakota's mother yelled from downstairs. I gave Dakota a hug, and grabbed my stuff. She waved to me, and I walked out the door. My mother was sitting in the car, waiting for me. She unlocked the door, and I hopped in.
"Did you have fun?" She asked. I smiled. Did I have fun? "Yeah.. uh.. W-we had f-fun..." I stammered. She looked at me like she had seen a ghost. "Okay 1. You never have fun, and 2. You never stutter in front of me! What's wrong?" She pointed out. "Oh.. Um nothing!" I tried to sound happy, and fake a smile. She wasn't convinced. "Seriously.. If you don't tell me what's wrong, I will burn all of your clothes and make you wear pink for the rest of your life", she threatened. Oh my god.. Ok um.. Think.. Think! I got it! "It's just... Yeah um...I just remembered..... We have to present in class... And I guess I'm just a little nervous! That's all! Nothing else!" She eyed me. "Whatever..." She sighed, and off we drove.
"Um... Mom.. This isn't our house.." I pointed out. She just smiled. I thought nothing of it, until we pulled up to an old, gray house that looks as if it hasn't been occupied for a few years. I was so confused. Why did she take me here? Where the hell are we? "Uh... Mom?" She cut me off by putting a finger to her lips. "Honey.." She turned to face me. "I need you to be very quiet, okay?" I nodded,"But whe-" "Shhhhh!" She scolded in a whisper. "You'll find out."
My mum knocked on the door. An old man, who seemed about 80 opened it. He had shiny gray hair, and wore suspenders and a bow tie, with brown pants and a nice suit jacket over it all. "Oh! What a lovely surprise! Joanne!! It's been too long!" He chuckled. My mother hugged him, and kissed his cheek. "Marty!! Oh it's so good to see you!" She piped. Marty eyed me, and my mother noticed. "Oh, Marty, meet Violet! Violet, this is Marty, my old counselor. " She announced. "Oh hello there Violet!" He shook my hand.
I slammed the car door. "Mom! I do not need counseling! I am perfectly fine!" I yelled running into my house. "Violet, stop pretending like you're okay!" She yelled after me, before I could reach my room. I slammed that door too. I fell onto my bed and started to cry. I don't need counseling!! I screamed inside my head. I grabbed my razor and pulled up my sleeve, but before I could cut the flesh, the door slammed open. It was Dakota.
