Ella's Wild Beasts

CHAPTER 11

With the pelts set to the side and the enedibal organs buried in the woods, Ella put the rabbits on spits. Once she had a healthy bed of coals she began to roast them. When they were done she removed them carefully from sticks and put two of the rabbits to the side on a large leaf and hers she kept hers near the fire. While they were cooking she had wrapped the edibal organs carefully many times and buried the. Under a rock to keep them cool and from spoiling until she could have them for dinner later.

Once everything was set she called out. "FOX! COME!" Then she waited. Shortly after she saw him appear out of his burrow and shake the dirt and dust from his coat before coming over. He sat and looked at her expectedly while thumping his tail on the ground. She gave him a smile and just pointed at his share and began eating hers. Glad she gave them time to cool to a comfortable warm before eating. She watched him take a careful sniff of the rabbit. Warily it looked at her then back at his food. Letting out a sigh he took a small bite, then he paused. Suddenly he started rapidly devouring his rabbits, bones and all.

Ella had to laugh. As soon as Fix was done he began liking the leaf and looking at her intensly with small tail wags. With a sigh of surrender Ella smiled and gave Fox the other half of her meal. His eyes never left the rabbit and waited till she had went back to sitting till he devoured that too. When he saw the was no more left he quickly gave her cheak another lick and seemed to be waiting for something else.

Looking at him she raised a brow and asked "Whatbis it Fox?" He looked at her and let out a small woof, turning he walked to the edge of the woods, once there he looked back and waited. "You want me to follow you?" Small head bob. With that she quick walked after the fox into the brush. They didn't go for very long but it was still further then she had went out yet. She made sure to look for land marks to find her way back in case something happened. After walking for around fifteen minutes they came to a stop and Fox was looking at her while wagging his brushy tail.

It took a moment to see why he was so excited, he had led her to a giant berry patch! "Oh! GOOD BOY, FOX!" Ella took the appropriate amount of time to pet/scratch fox while gushing praises. He looked very pleased with himself. After she was done basically worshipping Fox she sat and ate berries for awhile. When she was satisfied he led her back. Always making sure he didn't leave her behind.

When she got back she stocked the fire some and went out to collect more fire wood. After she felt set for the rest of the day and night she worked on her rabbit pelts. The used some stakes and stretched them so they could dry better and scrapped them with one of her rack shards. With everything set she went back tonthe pool and spent the rest of the day there besides tending the fire and making the organs for dinner.
