Chapter 11 Helping

Destinia POVI step back into the ballroom with Alistair and Sterling. The couples are mingling quite well, I feel Sterling's hand squeeze mine softly I look up at him and smile. He is a sweet soul, I wish things could be different. Before I can dwell too much on my negative thoughts, a young nymph woman comes running toward me tears streaming down her face. A young incubus man is following behind her calling her name, begging her to wait. "Goddess, Goddess please I do not want to be bonded to him, you can not intend for me to spend my life being fed on and waste away." her voice breaking. The male stands next to her, his eyes staring at the floor his voice low "Goddess please I am not like the others, I do want a true soul-bond. I will respect her and make her happy, could you please look into our future and see that the words I speak are true?" he finally looks at me, his eyes misting.

I am shocked to see an incubus be emotional like this, they tend to only care about carnal desire. I look at the couple and nod "Bastian, Thalia come here please, I am going to place my hand against your cheek. It will allow me to see into your future. Please do not move, do not speak, I cannot say how long this will take it could be seconds or minutes just give me time please." I smile at them. I look at Sterling and Alistair before I get started, I see a wisp come by with a large tray of dark liquid that they both take and start drinking.

I reach my hands towards Bastian and Thalia's cheeks and close my eyes, allowing my mind to enter into their future to see what lies in store for them. My vision brings me into the realm of Nereid, I see the young couple chasing each other through a meadow of lavender. Bastian has just caught Thalia and she is squealing and laughing, all of a sudden a small child comes running into view "mommy daddy don't forget me" the small voice squeals. It is a beautiful little girl, her bright hair glowing in the sun Bastian turns and picks her up and spins her around "Never could we forget you sweetheart" he kisses her on the cheek. My heart warms at the family in front of me, jealousy trying to inch its way into my heart, these are my people and I can't be jealous they are allowed to love and live. I have seen enough and they will be bonded.

I pull from my trance and smile at the couple. Thalia is wringing her hands terrified of what I have to say, I take her hand in mine "My child, you are going to have a beautiful life with this man, have faith in me and have faith in him" I lean forward and kiss her on the cheek and smile at Bastian. "Thank you, Goddess, I will trust you," Thalia says in a small whisper and turns to her bonded "I will give you my trust for now Bastian," she says as she holds her hand out to him. Bastian takes her hand and brings it to his lips "I promise your trust will not be misplaced, thank you Goddess for taking away her worry" his voice beaming with pride.I smile as they walk away. I turn back to Alistair and Sterling when I notice that Sterling is missing, I look at Alistair "Where did Sterling go?". Alistair starts looking around "He was just right here, I have no.." his voice trails off and I notice his eyes are locked on something, I turn in the direction he is looking. I notice it's not something his eyes are locked in on, it's someone....Sterling has another woman in his arms.
