"You cannot comprehend how much I've waited for this night to arrive. My very monstrous soul yearned to have you close again. Damnit, it breaks me in every way to send you off. I don't want you to leave my sight. But I know it is what has to be done. The queen will be put to rest once and for all. I give you my word."Lestat held me in his arms as tight as he could without breaking my human body. We occupied the back of his limo while Louis took the car back to his highly expensive hotel. Lestat mentioned how he funded Louis ever so often as an apology for past behavior.
I thanked him for showing the kindness he had always possessed. That only made him scoff against the skin of my neck.
"I'll be waiting for you to come for me. I've waited for over a century. Though I'm not sure even one more night apart will keep my will intact." My voice has grown thick with exhaustion and tears. I'm sure Lestat doesn't mind his shoulder being soaked from my previous sobs.
Now that I'm thinking of it, he might just value the wet spot on his black velvet jacket. He has always been strange like that.
"They won't dare attack me during the concert. Not if they want to really risk their very existence. I have faith that everything will run rather smoothly." I believe him but there is just that one unpredictable variable.
"Akasha is coming right for you. I know you won't fall for her apparent charms. You never did in the first place. I have so much trust that you will rise above them all covered in glorious victory." Lestat must have liked the sound of that judging by the new nipping at my neck.
We arrived shortly at the hotel Jesse rented out for us. It will feel so strange to walk back inside. I think me being Jake but now with very old-time memories will surely get her buzz going. I'm not the same person she read about. I'm just me, Jake Reeves. It's going to stay that way whether anyone likes it or not.
"Your blind faith in me is intoxicating." He pointed out before sliding away across the leather seat. I'm sure my neck is red from his attack. A faint blush appears on my cheeks. But I don't cower away from his intense gaze.
"I want to say those words." The pain in my voice is obvious. Lestat knew the words of which I wish to speak.
"We will find a loophole to your curse. Even if it will take me all eternity. You shall be mine forever." His heart-crushing words wound me deeply.
I make a move to study his beautiful stone face. I've missed the way his light hair curls down to his shoulders. Even his eyes sparkle like shining stars.
"You must leave me now. Find this Akasha and foil her plans to rule over us all."
~~~
Dread filled my stomach once I made the first step out of the dark limo. Lestat held onto my hand until he could no longer stand me being gone. I watched him drive away quickly.
