Jesse made such a big deal about me looking my best. I tried telling her that being dressed up in pretty goth clothing really means nothing to me. I won't be at the concert to have fun. My frazzled heart won't allow me to be calm enough to enjoy anything.I shall be too worried about what these rogue vampires plan to do to Lestat. The moment I woke up I rushed to the bathroom to empty my guts.
"Okay, but please let me put on the eyeliner. I promise it will be the only black thing you wear." Her pouty face is too much to ignore now. So I simply give in. "Go for it."
I can't say for sure how long she spent to get the right amount of 'smoky'. Sure was a lot of poking and prodding. I never allowed her to put makeup on me. I didn't even know she owned so much of it. I guess that shows how much I actually pay attention to her. I really am a lousy sister.
"All done." She exclaimed while jumping away from me. I slipped off the bathroom counter. Once turning around to see my face a gasp leaves me. I look like I haven't slept in weeks on purpose!
What is wrong with this girl? I'm going to literally strangle her tanned neck with my bare hands.
"You are absolutely insane," I tell her before storming away playfully. She only giggles at my frustrated reaction. I can only laugh along with her. First time I've laughed in a good long while. Leave it to Jesse to bring a smile to my face when I need it most.
I place my hands firmly on my hips. "Well, now I will have to wear darker jeans."
Her honey eyes were bright with wonder. "Duh." Of course, this was the plan all along. To make me change my clothes and put on something more vampire-like. Blending in with the crowd of groupies isn't such a bad idea.
With a playful shake of my head, I look at the digital clock. Only an hour until Lestat's limo will come by to pick me and Jesse up. I am only disappointed that he won't be inside. I can't afford to constantly worry about his wellbeing. Being a vampire already is an advantage he has over me.
"What about these?" Jesse held up a nice pair of denim, her red straight hair flowing over her back. A smile grows on my face.
"Perfect."
I take the black baggy jeans quickly and rush to the bathroom to put them on. They match perfectly with the navy blue sweater I'm borrowing from her.
I remembered this is Lestat's favorite color on me.
~~~
Jesse and I wait for the limo on the edge of the curb outside. It's just around the corner. I received a brief call from Lestat. Letting me know the concert was well underway.
