She had been tied to a chair within a strange bubble, the guards had taken Yumiko out of her cell at a very early time of the morning. "Tell us what you did with the princess and we might let you go." The guards had been asking the same question for around three months but the runaway had no way to tell exactly how long. "Well I hope she'd found a way to eat because you took me away so I can't supply her with it anymore." She spoke in a matter of fact tone but the guards mood hadn't changed, they probably didn't believe her. And that's when she realised what the bubble was for, the head guard of whatever this place was pulled a lever slightly and something changed in the air. "I'll ask you again. What. Did. You. Do. With. The. Princess?"Yumiko decided to stay silent, which wasn't the best idea as the guard was losing his patience with her. He pulled the lever halfway and then it hit her. They were putting something in the air, she was struggling to breathe but had to stay resilient. She couldn't let them know who she was. "I will get an answer. Either you tell us and we let you off lightly, depending on what you've done, or you don't and we continue putting toxins into your breathing air. I'll let you choose." She was struggling to breathe, after all her work would she let it fall apart? This toxin, it could kill me and that wasn't my plan, I know what to do though. She opened her mouth as if to speak but instead rolled her eyes to the back of her head and flopped her head forwards. All Yumiko had to do was pretend to be out of it, an unconscious state. As predicted, the guard took her out of the bubble and called over a medic. She took one long breath and held it for the entire time being looked over by the medic, "You overdid it, she's gone." Yes, it worked. The guard who had put her in so much danger sighed from stress. "I was supposed to find where the princess was, not kill the captor." He then bent down beside her and started tugging at her headscarf.
"Your majesty, we have news." A guard had come rushing into the room in which sat Spencer and his father sat, Spencer flicked his head over to see the guard stood in the doorway. "Good news, we found someone who we're pretty sure is the captor." The two looked at the guard expectantly so he continued. "Bad news, the person died while we were trying to get information out of them." Spencer's face fell, knowing it was Yumiko herself they'd caught, and hearing they might have killed her. "Do you have any idea what you've done. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO YOU HAVE JUST KILLED!?" He was fuming with sadness at the potential loss of his sister, the one who was always there to cheer him up, the one he'd grown up to love like no other. Gone. "Spencer calm down. They know very much what they've done, now we'll have to do a house-to-house search for her. Go, start that and please don't mess this up." The king dismissed the guard with a wave of his hand. Spencer wasn't standing it anymore.
"Let me see the captor." His father and the guard looked at him as if he were mad. "I need to know something." The guard looked over at the King to see what he'd say about taking his son to see his daughter's captor, the king just said "Go if you wish, but don't let us lose you too." And let them be. They went around unfamiliar passages and tunnels deep beneath the castle floors, Spencer never even knew this place existed. He had to shield his eyes from a sudden brightness, the passages had been so dark but this room was blinding white with barred cells dotted around the walls of this circular room. The Prince expected to be taken to one of the cells but instead went to a side room which led to what seemed to be an infirmary.
There, lying on one of the beds was his sister with a man in head guard uniform was about to remove her headscarf. Spencer coughed to drag the guard's attention away from her before moving closer to her. "Your highness, she's dead. It was all an accident I swear-" but the body reached a hand up to where the prince stood, both guards started in disbelief, Spencer sighed with relief and entwined his with the one reaching out. "Leave us for a while, I wish to have a few words with the offender." The guards opened their mouths as if to protest and stay but knew they should listen to the prince so, reluctantly, left.
"Miko you scared me, Zoë saw you being taken away and said but it was too late and when I heard someone who was assumed the captor had died I almost had a heart attack." Spencer was whispering as he didn't fully trust the guards to not earwig on their conversation, the runaway opened her eyes to look at him and laughed. "God I've been practising holding my breath for years, it's easy to look dead and sneak a few breaths every minute or so. And not sorry for scaring you, I said to trust me and not worry." The two were happy to see each other again and be able to have a relaxed conversation, even if it was in a whisper, as just the two. After the laughter died down silence broke as the door opened, and when she'd sat up the headscarf had fallen.
