Mammon's POV
----- I'm a curious guy, a'ight?
Lucifer is an intriguing older brother, a man of many, many secrets.
Unexploited, undetected - and most importantly, profitable - secrets.
The rarity of his lack of composure, his strict privacy, and the fact he NEVER cracks a smile. The three traits he regards as a protective layer, concealing his reserved life, actually make him a public magnet to all. There's too much left to the imagination, a gap in the Devildom media in a huge, Lucifer-shaped size.
Luckily for the ever-curious, unsatisfied citizens of the Devildom, The Great Mammon is here!
Let's not call it crazy things like exploitation or spying. I mean, c'mon people. This- this is my mission! For world peace! For society! To give the citizens of this, well... underground hell... what they want! Surely, I am noble and just! Say it with me!
After having a much-needed, internal pep-talk, I work up the courage to walk to Lucifer's quarters.
Standing outside of the man-of-the-hour's room, I quickly survey the area. Stairway, clear. His room, quiet. And most importantly, his door...
|There's only one period of time Lucifer is at his most vulnerable.|
Whenever he drinks, he's so out of it that he can hardly think straight. Alcohol is that thing; even a person who's deeply involved in the desire to move forwards will find themselves completely ambition-less. A hangover has the ability to plunge the routine-engulfed into chaos, an ability I'm hoping will give me access into Lucifer's not-so-humble abode. (Get it? Cuz humility is technically the opposite of pride- No- Alright...).
Creeping along the hallway and towards the dark, mahogany door, I hold my breath. Usually, I mess up on the most crucial step towards complete infiltration - sneakiness. But, when there's money involved, I can complete any tribulation for as long as my bank account is compensated generously.
If I could get a picture of Lucifer sleeping, smiling, or even drunk, it would sell like crazy. I'd be freakin' rich!𓁹‿𓁹 Heh. I could pay off my debts to those pesky witches, and I could probably take a few weeks off modeling to boot.
But as the saying goes: No pain, no gain.
As Oogway once narrated "One often meets his destiny on the path he took to avoid it."
Avoiding things is easier said than done, but escaping them is a real pain in the ass. Life is like a cyclical square (that doesn't make much sense lol) the consequences of your actions always come back to bite you in the arse, and if that ain't enough you can't even cut corners anywhere! Nothing is smooth, nothing is straightforward.
Before, when I used to talk to Lucifer, the world felt spherical. There were no bumps, no hindrances. Only vision, only an indomitable foresight. Life used to be uncertain when we'd been barred from the gates of heaven, the only home we'd ever known... As much as I hate to admit it, he created security for me and my younger brothers. (blegh, cringe)
I thought he'd create security for (Y/n) too.
But I guess I thought wrong.
It feels like he can't even take care of himself, let alone (Y/n). WAIT WAIT WAIT- Don't get it all wrong! I'm perfectly capable of taking care of her! -I- I mean that darn human. I d-don't WANT to - but sadly I like h- I mean - I have to since Lucifer put me in charge and all! So shut it!!!
A-anyways, the point is I've never thought Lucifer wouldn't be able to deal with a person, ya know?
I bet you can't imagine that weird feeling that churns in your gut when someone so freakishly meticulous suddenly does a 180. All of a sudden, the guy who completes formal documents to an insuperable level, has completed a dissatisfactory report to the extent where even their superior has to tell them to take a break and force them to pour themselves a glass of wine.
