dream's pov.what the hell is taking her so long? my thoughts kept worrying in the back of my head as I built, taking short glances in the direction she ran off to.
building some more, and more, and some more, until I was finally sick of it. I couldn't get the feeling that something bad happened. y/n could handle her own, obviously, but who knows what could happen.. we don't know the terrain here, and she could've slipped and fell into the lava. she could be hanging on the edge for her life right now and I wouldn't have a clue. what if the hunters got to her? my brain wouldn't stop coming up with every bad possible scenario.
drawing my sword, I walked up the hill she pointed at earlier, finding nothing but a couple of tracks and drag marks. my heart quickened, panic rising in me as I spun around.
nothing.
I analyzed the drag marks on the ground, it was only one person. one person took y/n, and I was going to kill them. they made a big mistake taking her, and they would pay for it with their final breath.
with my anger replacing my anguish, I followed the drag marks. albeit, I did not get far.
"oh dream~"
I stopped dead in my tracks, frozen in place. it couldn't be them.. right? there's no way they caught up to us that quickly.
laughter could be heard in the distance, evil, sadistic laughter that only comes from the hunters. my blood ran cold yet the sweat was produced heavily. I analyzed the area for any signs of them. the white-knuckle grip on my sword was making my hand cramp, but it was the very least of my worries.
after analyzing the area for a single minute: I heard no sounds, no laughter, nothing. nothing else could be heard other than the lava, and piglens.
am I going insane?? maybe it's the heat.
I told myself, knowing deep down that something was actually going on here. with my guard up high, I followed the trail, checking around me ever so often to make sure I wasn't being watched. I couldn't get rid of that sensation, eyes on every inch of my body, watching my every move. I knew better than to ignore it, nothing good would come out of it. so, I stopped everything and tried to calm myself.
you can't go into this with your emotions all over the place, dream. what if the hunters are watching you right now and you lead them to y/n? but, what if they took her in the first place?? no, there were signs of struggle, they would've knocked her out of they did get the jump on her... then who the hell took her?? no other people are in this world besides y/n, the hunters, the mystery guy at the east village, and myself.
unless the hunters lied.
with my thoughts going a mile a minute, I went back to the bridge. I continued to build, acting like nothing was wrong but aware that something was. I subtly kept checking my surroundings whilst building, keeping tabs on the directions I heard the most human-like noises.
sweat pooled from every inch of me, wanting to tear apart my clothes and chuck them into the magma. I never hated my sweatshirt and jeans before, but right now, I wanted to burn them.
"let's just wait by the portal!"
my heart stopped.
"no, sapnap! we need to stay near them and keep up with what their doing!"
my thoughts raced.
"did you just say "what their doing"?? we don't even know where y/n is!"
