Lindy, just because you own the cafe doesn't mean you should be late.

Eden could swear it was yesterday she left Hawkins, not a year. She could remember everything that had happened, the demogorgans, the destruction of the town, Hopper, watching the love of her life die. She remembered the good, but it was usually the bad that haunted her in her dreams. But, she'd come to know California as home, in a small town known as San Clementine. Lindy had moved in with her and twins about six months ago, which helped her be able to work and bring in money to keep herself and her little family afloat.

To her surprise, Joyce had purchased a house not two hours from Eden's little beach side home in a place called Lenora Hills. She'd been over the moon when Eleven had rung and informed her of the news. But, despite living so close, Jonathan had been quiet the last couple of months. El wrote her letters every week, proud of how far her english had come since she'd actually focused on school as she started as the new girl again for the second time.

She spoke to Will almost every day, either he rung her or she rung him after school finished. She knew everything that was going on, from Eleven being bullied despite the girl swearing she was ok to Jonathan's sudden interest in weed. She'd never been closer to the youngest Byers. And Joyce, well, the woman never seemed to not be busy, always chiming in a hello over Will's shoulder when she called.

Steve would ring every now and then, updating her on which pair of legs he was going to spread next and on how Dustin, Mike, Lucas and Max were. Max was someone of concern for Eden. Ever since she'd moved away her contact with Max had slowly lessened and lessened and now the girl barely even spoke to her or anyone for that matter.

Eden would still ring once a week asking to speak to her. Usually, Susan would answer and tell her Max wasn't home, even if she knew better. The others she didn't hear from often, maybe a phone call when something exciting happened, like the boys joining the Hellfire Club, a Dungeons and Dragons club, or when Lucas made the basketball team. She missed it, sometimes.

But, her life in San Clementine was more then she could've ever wanted. The perfect house, a job she loved, the beach right at her door step and a few people she could consider friends. The only thing that was missing was Billy. She saw things everyday that reminded her of him, and it pained her. Especially when the twins had learnt how to say Dad.

Eden pulled her hair back into a low pony tail, her clean mechanic overalls tied at her waist as she readied herself for work. The twins slept in their cots, giving her some time to herself to get ready. She could hear Lindy humming in the kitchen, the smell of eggs wafting through the house.

'Mum,' She called.

'Yeh, darling?' Lindy replied.

'Are my keys out there?'

'On the bench.'

'Thankyou.'

She tossed her hairbrush in the draw, checking on the twins as she passed by them on her way out of the room. She accepted the sandwich bag and lunchbox from Lindy, giving her a kiss on the cheek as she headed for the front door.

'What time do you start work?' She asked the woman.

'Whenever you get home,' Lindy waved off; 'I own the place, love.'

'Lindy, just because you own the cafe doesn't mean you should be late.'

'It'll be ok. Go before you're late. I'll see you this afternoon.'

 'Bye.'

She pushed open the door, letting it fall shut behind her as she trotted down the front stairs and toward the blue camaro that sat in the driveway. Life was almost perfect, and she wasn't sure anything could ruin what she had now.
