As Filina walked into the space behind the dormitory, she found Hugh leaning her back against the wall of the building. He smiled slightly and opened his mouth.
“Because of this, I feel like we’re having a dangerous secret meeting.”
She approached Hugh with a frown.
“Can’t you just say hello like a normal person?”
“But now we didn’t meet to do something very modest, did we?”
“Yes, but… ”
At Hugh’s words, she mumbled with a sullen face.
“Because we didn’t meet to do anything particularly dangerous.”
Hearing Filina’s words, Hugh bent his red eyes.
“Well. From now on, physical contact is required, so it could be dangerous.”
“Physical contact?”
“Because you have to stick to me to move through space.”
Hugh shrugged and added.
“The closer you are to me, the lesser the aftereffects of space movement will be.”
Filina asked, furrowing her eyebrows at his words.
“There are aftereffects of space movement? You didn’t say that before.”
“All magic has after-effects. What’s more, you’re using someone else’s magic indirectly. It’s only natural to suffer after-effects.”
He said calmly and held out his hand to Filina.
“Choose how far you will have physical contact. For reference, the farther the distance, the more severe the aftereffects. There’s no need to be scared, it’s just that your head or your stomach will hurt. But the more physical contact with me, the less you feel the aftereffects.”
Filina stared quietly at Hugh’s outstretched hand and said with a puzzled face.
“But, you said we got along well. So, even if I receive your magic indirectly, shouldn’t I feel any aftereffects?”
Hearing Filina’s words, Hugh only smiled while raising his lips without saying a word. She looked at Hugh with sharp eyes.
“You lied, didn’t you? Be honest.”
Hearing Filina’s words, Hugh put away his extended hand and grumbled with a sullen face.
“Ugh, I didn’t lie.”
Filina looked at Hugh with a puzzled expression on her face. Then he glanced at Filina and rubbed his lips.
“I shouldn’t have said that you and I are a good match.”
“Is it true that there are side effects?”
“Yes, the worse the match is, the worse it gets. But it won’t matter if you just hold my hand.”
Hugh reached out to Filina again.
Filina quietly looked at his outstretched hand. A black X-mark was drawn like a tattoo on his white wrist.
Since she wasn’t using her own power, the least amount of contact was required. Filina held his large hand carefully. Hugh smiled and clasped her hand.
“Your hands are very small. Cute.”
“… Your hands are big.”
Filina muttered with a dissatisfied expression, but Hugh drew a picture in the air with an insignificant expression.
