y/n's povAlex, Reggie and I sat at a café table with a lifer girl who was trying to take a picture of her pastry.
"Oh, great angle. Yeah." Reggie said, looking at her phone screen from over he shoulder. "Now that's a good pic."
"Is this what we're here for?" Alex asked. "To watch people take pictures of food?"
"It's fun. Watch this. People never stop looking at their phones." Reg moved the plate around as the woman tried to grab it, not looking away from her phone like he said. The woman looked weirded out and took her plate to sit somewhere else. I chuckled and Reggie smiled proudly. "And Luke said something about this place being a hot spot for music industry people."
We looked back as Luke sat down in the empty seat across from me where the woman was sitting before.
"Being a ghost definitely has its privileges. I just wrote our names on the playlist for tonight."
"I'm getting a little worried about him." Alex whispered to Reggie and I before speaking louder. "He keeps forgetting that Julie quit the band."
"And that she's gonna come back just as soon as she knows that we have a great gig."
"But if she doesn't come back, let's not forget," Reggie got our attention. "we do have somewhere else we can play and eat pizza."
"Dude, I know. It was awesome to be seen by lifers at Caleb's party, but... but we got this with Julie. We don't need him."
We all had the same jolt of pain again, causing us to groan and fall back in our chairs.
"Oh! It's that same thing again." Alex said, rubbing his chest.
"Yeah, just like yesterday!" Luke said.
"It feels like that time I was fixing my amp in the rain." Reggie described.
"I still can't believe you did that." I said as the pain in my chest subsided.
"Okay. Look, do you think something's wrong with us?" Alex asked Luke.
"Yeah. Yeah, we ate ten pounds of pizza yesterday without a stomach." He replied. "I'm sure it's just our bodies working through it."
"So we're just gonna forget about getting back at Trevor?" Reggie asked. "That jerk stole our music."
"And he's gonna have to live with that guilt." Luke said. "It's just like Julie said. We have a new band, a new sound. Okay? That's what we should be focusing on."
"Isn't that Willie?" Alex asked. We looked out the window to see the familiar long haired boy turn around and skate away. Alex jumped out of his seat and out the door.
"Well, someone's not focusing on our music." Reggie smirked.
"Anyway, Luke, you can't just assume Julie will come back." I said. "I mean, we really hurt her."
"Don't worry, Y/N. She will come back."

When Julie walked into the garage, Reggie poked out from behind Luke.
"We're sorry."
Then Alex popped out from behind him.
"So sorry."
Luke knelt down on one knee.
"We're super-duper, crazy, stupid sorry."
We all sang the last word.
"In case you missed it, we're really sorry." Reggie said.
"Yeah... I got that part."
"We've been here for like three hours." Alex scratched the back of his head.
"Yup." Reggie and Alex high-fived right in front of my face.
"We almost sang to your little brother." I told her while Luke got up.
"He comes in here a lot. Mainly to use the bathroom." Reggie pointed to the room behind us.
"Yeah. It's not our favourite part of the day." Alex said, his face scrunched in disgust.
"But, Julie, it wasn't okay that we flaked on the dance last night. We know we let you down." Luke said and we went back to the topic on hand.
"Yeah, and none of us wanted to disappoint you." Alex told her. "You're the best thing that's happened to us since we became ghosts."
"So, in hopes that you'll rejoin the band, we booked a new gig."
"A mega important, life-changing gig." Reggie said, leaning against my shoulder.
"Oh, okay. Check it out." Luke pointed down at the flyer he just handed Julie. "Tons of managers go here to listen to new bands. All we gotta do is blow them all away, and we're living the dream."
"So, this means a lot to you, huh? Kinda how playing in front of my whole entire school meant a lot to me."
"Sounds like sarcasm." Reggie then gasped and whispered to me. "I'm starting to think our plan isn't working."
"Look, we know me messed up." Alex said.
"But we need you in the band." Luke said.
"Of course you do, because without me no one can see you playing." Luke looked down. "You know, I thought the music we were writing was special, but you're too obsessed with your past to even care."
"I do care." Luke's voice softened. "Our band has a real chance at greatness. I'm not gonna let that get away from us again."
"Uh-huh, right. So then why did you bail on me to get back at Trevor? I'll tell you why. Cause there's only on thing that you care about, and that's yourself." Julie turned around and left, leaving Luke with a sad look on his face.
He took a few steps after her but stopped himself from going any further.
"Dude, she didn't mean it." Alex said.
Luke looked down and poofed away.
"Where is he going?" Reggie asked.
"Where do you think?" I asked him back. "Remember what today is?"
Reggie shook his head at first and then remembered.
We poofed in front of Julie, who was sitting on the living room couch studying.
"Hey, you, uh... you got a second?" Julie didn't even look up at Alex's words. She just sighed.
"Oh my gosh. She can't see us anymore!" Alex looked at Reggie blankly. "Oh, right. Yep."
I sat down on the arm of the couch next to Julie.
"Julie, please."
She looked up at me. "I already told you that I'm done with the band."
"Yeah, we know, you've said. But before you decide that forever, we just..." I sighed. "We wanted you to know that Luke isn't as selfish as you think he is, all right?"
"Yeah, you've got him all wrong." Reggie agreed.
Julie scoffed.
"You remember that song 'Emily'?" Alex spoke up. "Can we at least show you who that's actually about?"
