[ 13. alex the ballerina ]

I stood with the boys behind Julie and Flynn as Dirty Candy performed on the stage.

Not long into the performance, Alex poofed onstage and Julie looked from him and back to us.

We watched as Alex danced around on the stage mimicking some of the girls' moves. After a dramatic spin, Alex poofed back next to me.

"You having fun out there?" Julie asked him.

Alex cleared his throat. "It's not my fault. It's my, um... It's my feet."

Reggie gave Luke and I a knowing look.

"Yeah." Julie nodded, obviously not believing him.

"Put me back in, Coach." Alex poofed back onstage.

"Oh, it's my ghost buddies." Julie told Flynn and I snickered.

Alex strut around on stage and spun like a ballerina. He walked through Carrie at one point and followed her when she walked in a circle.

When the song finished, Alex had his arms up in the air. The crowd all applauded and Alex spun again.

"Making me blush." He said and poofed back over to us "Hey, um... I was just... I was just doing that for you guys."

"Mm-hmm." Reggie nodded sarcastically with his arms crossed. "Yeah. You can stop smiling now."

"I'm not gonna lie. That was... kind of good." Julie said to Flynn.

"Yeah. I forgot why I hate her so much." Flynn replied.

"Hi, girls. Um, isn't it past your bedtime?" Carrie asked as she walked over to our group.

"Now I remember." Flynn said to Julie and a smile grew on my face.

"If you're looking for Nick, he didn't come." Carrie said.

"That's not why I'm here." Julie scoffed.

"Okay, it looks like we're closing the night out with one more group, Julie and The Fat Ones."

The girls from Dirty Candy laughed and we looked at Luke in disappointment.

"Really?"

"Yeah, man. My handwriting sucks." Luke said apologetically.

Julie walked onstage and the Dirty Candy girls walked away.

"Hi." Julie said once she sat behind the keyboard with her microphone in the stand. "It's actually Julie and The Phantoms. Okay."

Flynn turned on the "projector" and Julie started playing.

"Hearts on fire. We're no liars. So we say what we wanna say."

"I'm awakened. No more faking. So we push all our fears away."

"Don't know if I'll make it cause I'm falling under. Close my eyes and feel my chest beating like thunder."

"I wanna fly. Come alive. Watch me shine."

We poofed onstage and Julie got up and went to the middle of the stage. The crowd of people that was once quiet were now cheering, some even up and dancing.

"I've got a spark in me. Hands up if you can see. And you're a part of me. Hands up if you're with me. Now till eternity. Hands up if you believe. Been so long and now we're finally free."

"We're all bright now. What a sight now. Coming out like we're fireworks. Marching on proud. Turn it up loud. Cause now we know what we're worth."
