CHAPTER FOUR: NO.16

I probably didn't have the guts to give you my number or introduce myself so here it is 07658385895. My alarm is currently cruel summer by Taylor Swift so apologies if you get sick of hearing it every morning.

Hope you enjoy the cake, thank Dylan.

P.s ignore this if it's too forward :)

And thats how I find myself staring at the Tardis blue door, a replicate of mine. She slammed the door in my face! I am still holding the cake and the note. Though her having these things seems a bit inappropriate now. Despite my head spiralling, I leave the cake on the welcome mat, which is practically laughing at me. "Welcome to our home", not feeling very welcome right now number 16, I'm not feeling the warmth. I pocket my phone from my dungaree front pocket and slide the note through the letter box. I start aggressively tapping at my messages in hopes someone if anybody will come and magically find a way of reversing time so i can mend our relationship. I seem to have been pacing for some time, as when I finally get a call from Naomi, my hair from the fallen bun I stuck to my neck and my curly baby hairs at the crown of my head are curlier from the sweat.

"Aimes, you better be bleeding from three deep battle wounds because I just had to let Ty beat me in Rasputin on just dance. Ty! Shut up its default Aimes needs us." I can hear all my family scurrying in the background noise on her call. They must all be gathered at The Kemps. They have a huge room inside that we go in when it's raining and we cant visit the lake. It sounds silly, but knowing them for so long I understand their sound, their footing pattern, the sound of their breath, and their laughs, they are so evidently "them" from just the sound. I miss them so much and yet I saw them a couple of hours ago.

"It's a code Indigo Mi, I swear! Im pacing, you cant see me right now but my Apple watch is having a fucking heart attack because it's not experienced this much movement since 2019."

"Whats wrong!?" thats Tyler, you can hear the concern in his voice. Naomi isn't much of a call person shes "a voice message on the go" kind of person.

"Flo is exercising."

"Yep, something is definitely wrong." Dylan, so little faith in me. What if I was taking up a new exercise regime and became impressively agile.

"Just put me on speaker."

"You were on speaker since you said you were pacing, you're not an avid exerciser it was concerning." welcome to our alliance, we are honest but we love each other, I promise.

"Thanks, Naomi."

"Just get to it what the hell happened." Oliver and their impatience, are endearing at times, but this isn't the time. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell happened myself let alone narrate it as my life depends on it.

"I just want to clarify before I speak"-

"-im sorry but im too impatient for this just spill." we all grew in a perfect mix of tough love and unconditional admiration. It made us all painfully aware of our personalities and characteristics. Our parents all are good communicators though and they've been friends for our entire existence, they are good examples.

"Simmons is the new neighbour."

From my end of the phone, I can hear multiple different reactions. Tyler is laughing uncontrollably I can tell they are already hunched over trying to catch their breath. Then Oliver and Tyler have gone completely silent but I can hear them pacing and well Naomi. Naomi does what she always does best. She says what you need to hear even when you don't want to hear it.
