Sixteen year old Isabel was the second daughter of the king,the only person with blue eyes in the whole of the kingdom. Her father married another wife when her mother couldn't provide him a child but later her mother gave birth to her shortly after the second queen gave birth.
Her mother,queen Diana died a year ago after she was poisoned but the culprit was not known.
After the death of her mother,the king became sick of heart diseases caused by the shock of his wife's death and since then Isabel has been maltreated by her Stepmother and sisters. They hated her for no reason.
Isabel rose from her bed, the ray of light shown at every corner of the room. She blocked her blue eyes from the ray of light with the back of her hands just then Sonia entered.
"Good morning my princess,it's time for your bath" she said bowing.
"When will you stop bowing for me,Sonia?"
"As long as you are still my princess" Sonia replied, looking up and smiling at Isabel. She accompanied her to the entrance of the bathroom for her to take her bath.
After she was done, Sonia helped her in wearing her long, red dress and white shoes. She styled her long black hair in buns. Her breakfast was served,this time she ate until she was satisfied. Her maids accompany her to greet her stepmother,she always do this every morning even though Helena hated it.
"Good morning, your highness" she greeted her as she sat down with her leg crossed and head bowed.
"Be thankful you didn't call me your mother" Helena said with mean voice "You may leave".
Isabel stood up to leave but unfortunately she bumped into Felicia who was coming into her mother's chamber.
"Have you gone totally blind" Felicia said and slapped her
"Felicia, I'm sorry but I didn't know" Isabel said painfully
"Whatever, just clean my shoes which you stepped on" she said and placed her legs forward for Isabel to clean. Isabel was about to clean it when Sonia stopped her.
"My princess,I'll do that for you"
"Are you mad? Who asked you,you fool?" Felicia blurted out angrily
"What's going on there" Helena asked as she stepped out of her chamber.
"Mother,can you imagine this Idiot bumped into me and stepped on me"
"Oh my goodness, you evil girl" she said and pulled Isabel by the hair letting her scream loudly. She finally let her go by pushing her away making her fall on her butt. "Now, leave here at once"
Sonia helped Isabel up and they left instantly but not to her chamber. She went to the spot where her father was burnt to ashes,she sat there and cried.
"Isabel, stop this and let's go" Sonia who was behind, watching her said.
"Go where? I have nobody to go to. Just stay in my room and cry all day, I can't even go out of the palace without asking for permission from the queen which I know can't be granted. It's better I stay here" she said as tears rushed down her cheeks.
Sonia had no option than to let her be.
Sounds of laughter and heavy footsteps were heard and it was coming closer. Isabel looked up and saw her sisters riding horses,they looked so happy while she was sad. Her sisters drew more closer to her and stopped in front of her.
"Are you still trying to deceive us with those tears? We know you killed your mother and our Father so you don't need to pretend" Felicia,the eldest princess blurted out
"I didn't kill my parents, please" she said in tears
"You did,that's why you have those blue eyes because you are evil" Patricia uttered.
"Anyways, would you like to go to the town with us? I already told mother to release your horse for today" Felicia said
"No, thanks" Isabel replied
" You must,or else I will report you to mother for disobeying me"
"Okay, I'll go" Isabel agreed not wanting to get reported
"And also your maids are not going to follow you"
"Why?" She asked surprisingly
"And who are you to question my sister's order" Patricia asked rudely
"Okay, I'll go with you. Sonia,wait for me in my chamber" she said facing her,Sonia gave her a sign to be careful.
Isabel mounted her horse and followed them. They ride around the places where there were no houses. They got to the riverside and Felicia said she wanted to swim so they all got down from their horses except Isabel.
"Won't you get down? " Felicia queried
" I don't know how to swim"
"And so? We learn new things everyday. Get down and let me teach you"
Isabel got down even though she was afraid. Felicia and Patricia put off their clothes and Isabel did the same. She was forced into the river by her sisters but quickly ran off.
"I'm scared, I can't swim" she said panting. The sisters looked at themselves and gave a signal which Isabel couldn't understand.
"Okay,then. Let's go" Felicia said as she walked out of the river.
When they got to the palace, Felicia and Patricia went straight into their mother's chamber.
"Mother,we failed. She refused to swim with us" Felicia said disappointedly
"She said she was scared even though we tried to force her but she refused" Patricia uttered
"I know what to do" Their mother said nodding
"Mother,we must get rid of her quickly before she kills us" Patricia said
" You may return to your Chambers" their mother ordered and they left.
" What! They forced you to swim? Sonia asked looking shocked
Isabel nodded.
"You must be careful with those girls"
" I will "
That evening, Helena came into Isabel's chamber,she was wearing a smile which made Isabel confused.
" My daughters told me you were scared of swimming today?" She asked as she sat down on the bed.
"Yes,your highness"
"Well, I would like you to go with them tomorrow to learn how to. As a princess you must have some skills"
Isabel didn't respond.
"Make sure you don't disobey me" Helena said as she patted Isabel at the back with a smile before she left.
