ROBIN STARED AT the note for a short second, shocked that nancy had even remembered about her puke incident in the bathroom the day prior. sure, it had only been a day. however, she wasn't used to people actually caring to check on her.

in fact, she wasn't used to people even noticing her at all. besides steve, of course.

she looked over at nancy, seeing the brunette look at her with a concerned look. oddly enough to robin, it seemed genuine.

robin slowly shook her head, deciding to let the thoughts of telling nancy the truth win. nancy took the note back from underneath robin's hand and flipped it ovrr, scribbling more words. she passed it back to robin.

talk to me after school? i'll keep you company

robin felt a smile take over her face as she read the note, not used to someone like nancy wheeler wanting to hang out with her.

robin couldn't help but think that she had been wrong about nancy. all thoughts of her being a priss washed away, thoughts of her being nice and caring taking over her mind.

robin sloppily wrote a 'yes' on the note, sliding it back over onto nancy's side of the desk. nancy smiled, giving her a small nod and refocusing on class.

robin quickly pulled her phone out of her pocket, sending steve a simple text saying she didn't need his ride after school. she set her phone back down and paid attention to class as well.

after the bell rang, robin found nancy's locker. the girl waited for robin, eyes darting around the hallway before she landed on robin.

"hey," nancy said with a smile once robin had walked over. "ready to go?"

"yeah," robin replied, giving her a quick nod.

robin had originally been excited at the thought of nancy being there for her and hanging out with her after school. however, as time passed, she realized nancy would have questions about her not feeling well.

questions that robin wasn't sure how to answer.

the two walked to nancy's car in silence, neither knowing what to say. robin got in the passenger side of the car, taking note of how clean the car was. nancy had a few decorations in the car- it looked trendy, even.

nancy put on a song, starting the car and pulling out of her parking spot. "are we going to my place or yours?"

"we can go to mine," robin said, "my mom isn't home right now"

nancy nodded, plugging robin's address into her maps app as robin recited it to her.

"so, do you know why you've been throwing up? do you have the flu?" nancy asked after a few minutes of silence.

"no, i think my breakfast is hurting my stomach," robin lied. she wasn't ready to tell nancy the truth- and even if she was, she didn't know how she could.

"maybe you're allergic to something you're eating," nancy suggested, "you should get that checked out"

"yeah, i will sometime," robin lied again.

"i don't know much about you," nancy said suddenly, changing the topic.

"not many people do. nobody ever talks to me," robin replied truthfully, watching out the window.

"i'm sorry. i should've, honestly. i don't really have many friends. i don't trust many people,"

"it's fine"

"no, it's not. i shouldn't be hanging out with you because i ran into you puking in the bathroom"

robin laughed, "it's fine, i promise. i don't have many friends either. i don't want to open up to someone and have them end up leaving me because honestly that would really hurt and suck big time and i believe i've been through enough already and don't need others hurting me"

"do you do that often?" nancy questioned.

"do what often?" robin replied confused, looking over at nancy.

"ramble"

"oh- yeah sorta. i'm sorry, i know it can get annoying. my best friend reminds me daily"

"no, it's fine. i'm just trying to learn more about you. i don't mind your rambling," nancy assured her with a smile. "who's your best friend? i may have to beat them up"

"steve. steve harrington"

"you mean steve 'the hair' harrington," nancy laughed at her own joke, robin joining in after processing the joke. "i know him"

"you do?"

"yeah, we talked in my junior year. i had to interview him for the paper. seems like a cool guy"

"he is, he's great. he's always there for me. i can't drive, so he drives me to school and picks me up. we work together"

"where? not to be creepy or anything," nancy added the second part quickly.

"starbucks," robin looked out the window again, "he's fun to work with i guess. we both normally make drinks. he usually fucks them up though, so i have to remake them. god, he's the worst. but i love him"

"love him?" nancy asked, confused. "are you two dating?"

"no, no definitely not," robin shook her head. "i would rather shoot myself in the head"

nancy laughed. "i can think of a couple people i'd chose death over dating"

robin smiled, watching out the window as they pulled up at her house. nancy pulled in the driveway, ending the directions.

the two both got out, robin walking ahead to unlock the door. once she did, the two entered the house.

"want anything to eat or drink?"

"i'm alright, thanks," nancy replied politely.

both girls went into robin's room after robin grabbed a snack and drink for herself. she closed the door behind her, walking over to her bed and taking a seat.

"i like your room," nancy commented, taking a seat on the bed as well.

robin's walls were a light shade of blue, records covering the half of one wall. robin had a bookshelf with books littering it, knickknacks placed anywhere robin could fit them. a couple articles of clothing laid on the floor as well.

"it's kind of a mess, sorry," robin said, notcing the room's state.

"don't worry, mine is a mess too," nancy laughed.

and robin could feel butterflies fill her stomach, brushing it off as something weird tied into her pregnancy.
