I'm a detective. That's what people call me, I got the nickname in highschool and I guess it stuck around. Who knew that a silly ploy would become my career?
I yawned and opened my email to see my newest case.
The Phantom Theif:
Little is known about this criminal. They leave little to no trace. No fingerprints, No DNA.
The criminal is thorough, obviously tactical. The only thing known is the haircolor after an unsuspecting tourist got a shot of them in the back of their photo.
Shuichi's eyes widened as he looked over the screen. He was used to small crimes like vandalism or car break ins. This one was a case reserved for triple 0's!
Then he got another email from his uncle who employed him.
"Sorry Shuichi, We sent you the wrong case. Here's the one you'll be working on." Shuichi opened the new file to find an attached report of B and E, though as he went to delete the other email he found himself hitting archive instead.
It was an accident, he can get rid of it later, he has work to do anyways...
The suspect Seiko Kimura was found guilty, with an accomplice Ruruka Ando who seemed to have blackmail over the original suspect.
I felt bad, I had heard about their toxic relationship during highschool, but I need to remain neutral in the world of law.
I sighed as I submitted my report and stretched. I'm going to go for a walk to clear my head.
I lovked my door behind me and started going down the sidewalk aimlessly. Sometimes its nice to just forget your responsibilities.
Then suddenly it hit me again. The triple 0 case. It's not like that information is given around recklessly, I don't think it was a mistake that it got sent to me.
Could my uncle have sent that to me on purpose?
Suddenly a shadow towered over me. I looked up to realize I had walked far into one of the more dangerous parts of town.
I looked up to see a muscular, blue haired guy. I recognised him as Nekomaru Nidai from the Kuzuryu clan. Peko Pekoyama, and the leader Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu stood behind him.
"Oi, you're mister detective aren't ya? Heard you've been investigating our group." The blond male spoke up, threatening despite his short demeanor.
"Should we take him boss?" He thought for a second before replying.
"No, we're busy enough with you know what. You don't say anything and we'll let it slide, okay mister detective?" Unsure what to do I just nodded. The three then turned and walked down and ally. I waited a second before following after them.
I know I shouldn't but my intuition said I should.
I pulled my dark hat over my face, helping me blend in with the shadows as I followed them. I saw them walk up to an elaborate building with dozens of body guards. While they were busy guarding their boss I slipped behind them and followed the wall in.
I watched carefully always making sure I had a hiding place at hand. I saw them come closer to an overly protected room, It probably had something important.
"Isshiki, Nisshiki. Go find your brothers, I'd like you eight to do a perimeter search." The two men nodded before heading down an opposing hallway. I waited for the three to enter the room before I crept up to it.
I put my ear to the wood gently, listening for anything.
"Now, so this is ----------" I strained but his voice was hard to hear. "Your all alone, nobody's gonna come looking for you, so we can do whatever ------" They have a hostage!?
"Let me go! You know I'm no use to you!"
"No.. but it will be fun --------" Dammit. I grabbed my phone and sent an emergency ping to my agency and associates. I didn't bring my gun but I do have an emergency tazer. If I don't make a commotion I might be able to take down those three by myself while I wait for backup.
I took a deep breath and swung the door back. I said a guy with purple hair strapped to a chair. I expected the others to be throughout the room, but not all waiting behind the door. I felt Nekomaru slam into me, holding me on the ground. A second later Peko had her sword at my throat.
"I told ya the detective was following us." Fuyuhiko walked around to face me. "Nekomaru, make sure the Madarai brothers got everything under control."
This isn't good. All 8 of them had passed through hopes peak as ultimate body guards. I have strong people but it still might be difficult. Peko kept her sword up, never dropping her guard, while the purple haired guy just stared at the floor with an angry expression."Fuyu- Urg." As I tried to speak, Peko pressed the blade against my skin. He waved her down and she reluctantly relented. "You should let me and your other hostage go. The police are already on their way." He scoffed at that.
"What, a few measly cops? Don't underestimate me and my group. Whoever you send-"
"AUGH!!" He was cut off my a yell and slam, It wasn't one of my associates, so I assume it was one of his. It was confirmed when he started to sweat and mumble. Even the purple haired guy looked up, surprised.
"HANDS OFF DEGENERATES!!" I smiled as I recognised the voice of the top officer in our agency. Despite her sexism towards males, she is the strongest on our force.
"I think you got them officer.." I heard Rantaro chuckle. He was the second best detective here, right below me. He wasn't especially strong, but he was fast and great at coming up with plans in the spur of the moment.
"Guys! I found them!" The door slid open revealing Maki. Strong and silent type. In all honesty she could easily beat Tenko for the top spot but she prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
"How the hell did they get here so fast?! Peko teach these bastards a lesson!" That was a mistake though. Maki had been looking into the Kuzuryu plan and had prepared for this exact scenario. Peko put up a good fight but she was no match for Maki. Fuyuhiko tried to help his comrade but by then, the other two had caught up.
Within half an hour the Kuzuryu clan had been gathered and arrested under pretenses of Kidnapping and Assault. Unfortunately I also got a weeks suspension for breaking in without a search permit, Guess I had it coming I suppose. Now though it was up to what we would do with the other guy.
He kept his eyes on the ground and didn't speak to anyone. Even Rantaro couldn't get anything out of him. After a week had passed I was up to try. Just who is this...
