Lost Soul

Part 18 : at last

Kelly was himself fearful, he was praying that this was nothing. This couldn't keep on happening, he knew that if this was to end badly Stella would be devasted. And that's another type of pain he couldn't bare to see. He took a deep breath, and maintained his calm so that he could asses her in the best way possible.

"We're slowly going to get up, and we're going to the hospital"

"I don't know, I'm afraid. It's weird, the cramps in my lower abdomen are not normal" she explained with her breathing rapid.

"Hey, look at me" and so she did. "Breathe in and out"

And so she mimicked him a couple of times, and after seemingly calming herself down they were finally able to make their way to the car. Kelly drove carefully and they got to the hospital in no time. He helped Stella out of the car and they made their way inside.

"How are you holding up?" He asked as they were approaching the front desk.

"Well the cramping stopped so that's one"

"okay then let's go and see what's happening"

After explaining a bit what was going on, they transferred Stella into a room and monitored her. Will came to check in on her since he knew her a little bit more than anyone.

"So what's going on, what brought you here today?"

"I've been having this cramps, they hurt like hell honestly and i think i'm bleeding" she explained.

"Well first we will check on the baby, to see if everything is good. And after having the ultrasound done, i'll have my colleague check you for the bleeding"

Stella shook her head, she was very scared, frightened even. But she was trying to maintain her calm, she wasn't sure if everything was ok. In this moment there was no excitement, just the fear of once again losing a baby that was growing inside of her. So will brought out the ultrasound machine, and checked.

"I don't see anything abnormal, the baby is looking good and definitely growing good too. Now let's hear the heartbeat"

"You're sure?"

"Let's just wait, ok"

They waited and heard the heartbeat, it wasn't as Will would have liked but it was enough to calm Stella a little more.

"It's a little bit lower than i would expect, are you on any medication at the moment" Will asked as he stopped the ultrasound.

"She takes some for her mental health, but the dose was reduced. Why?" Kelly replied as he saw Stella struggle to form words.

"It might be what caused the cramps and bleeding, Natalie will check you and we'll see from there" he explained "but you'll probably have to completely get off your medication"

So Will left the room to go get Natalie, and in that moment Stella grabbed Kelly's arm. Her tears had been silently running down her cheeks.

"I can't do this, i just-"

"You heard him, he said that things looked good. The only thing a bit concerning is the baby's heartbeat"

"I know that's xactly why i am feeling like this. The heartbeat is the most important, what if it stopped?"

Kelly couldn't stand to see her like this, he gave her a kiss on her forehead and embraced her. He was hurting, seeing her crying this uncontrollably was not how he was picturing things to go. But as Natalie came to the room, she quickly dried her tears.

Natalie checked her, she was gentle and Stella felt comfortable as she figured out what was happening with the bleeding.

And after a couple of minutes she was done.
