“Where are you running off to,” Kilm asked Jaxon as the man nearly run right into him.
“Quincy needed something so I’m going to give it to him,” Jaxon said.
Kilm narrowed his eyes and glanced at Jaxon up and down. He snorted and motioned for Jaxon to follow him. Jaxon sighed but eventually gave in. The two trailed down a series of strange halls and corridors, that lead the pair to a staircase that seemed to never end.
“Keep up,” Kilm said, he began jogging up the stairs. Leaving a gaping Jaxon in his dust.
Recovery shortly, Jaxon shook his head and began walking up the stairs. Kilm had disappeared from view, with only his subtle footsteps on the creamy boards of the stairs to be heard. Halfway-or what Jaxon presumed was halfway, he was out of breath and feeling a slight ache in his side. He threw his head back and saw the smug face of Kilm staring down at him.
“You know how long, I’ve been standing here,” he asked aloud. “No wait, the correct question is, how many flights of stairs have you walked up,” he continued.
Jaxon glanced behind himself and sighed. He leaned against the railings and raised a hand.
“Yeah,” Kilm answered smugly. “That’s about 50 steps,” he continued.
Jaxon shook his head and stared up at him.
“If you want to pick a fight with a siren witch hybrid, who has 70% of this school on her side, you’re going to need to be able to withstand more than just a jog up a couple of stairs,” Kilm boomed, his voice echoing off the walls.
Jaxon blinked once and he was gone.
“You need to prepare yourself.”
Jaxon flinched and turned quickly, staring wide-eyed at Kilm who had mysteriously appeared behind him.“You didn’t think that you were the only one with a couple of tricks up their sleeves now did you,” he said mockingly, marching down the staircase.
Jaxon huffed. “I don’t understand,” he started.
“I know you don’t, that’s why I’m helping you,” Kilm responded.
“Thought you hated me.”
Kilm chuckled. “It takes a lot more than ignorance for me to hate someone, also I made a promise that I’m trying to keep,” he responded with a hint of reminisce and a strange accent on the tip of his tongue.
Jaxon noted it. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and nodded absentmindedly.
“So why does everyone fear her so much, other than the very high pitch scream,” Jaxon wanted to say something else but he held his tongue.
“Because everyone in this school…only has this school and Marisol is the goddaughter of the headmaster,” Kilm said pausing at the bottom of the stairs.
“No one wants to get on her bad side because no one wants to get kicked out and trust that she will. She has done it before, to a girl who threatened her rule,” Kilm said, a frown forming on his face.
“Great,” Jaxon whispered under his breath, remembering his little encounter with her.
“You should stay clear of her especially when you’re by yourself and she is not,” Kilm explained, walking out of the room. Jaxon followed closely behind him. His heart skipped a few beats at the thought of someone finding out about his encounter with Marisol.
Luther pulled his chamber door open just as Beau was about to knock on it. She entered the room quietly.“Is Kilm here,” she asked glancing down a dark hallway.
“No,” Luther responded tiredly.
“Are you okay,” Beau immediately asked, hearing the tiredness in his voice.
“My dosage is late,” he stated sitting on the couch. He was referring to his special blood supplement. Luther was like no other vampire. His needs were far different from anyone else’s.
