TW: Suicide
"MinJun-ah, where are you?"
"Hyung, can you hear me?"
"Oppa, are you here?"
The Hwangs had desperately been searching for their eldest son since dawn but there was no sign of him anywhere. Concerned, even the villagers set out to find him but still nothing. They finally ventured out to the more secluded areas and little did they know their lives were about to change forever.
"There's someone there! Let's go!" One of them exclaimed.
When they reached the top of the meadow, gossip immediately filled the air. The family was confused but pushed past the crowd and their eyes immediately widened.
"MinJun!"
Their Mother dropped to the ground and scooped the pale, cold body into her arms before breaking into tears. She held onto the lifeless body like her life depended on it and smothered her face onto his chest.
"M-MinJun-ah, please wake up." She caressed his face in disbelief. "Don't you dare leave your Eomma now."
The three younger ones crowded around their brother's body and broke into tears.
"Oppa...what did you do?" The girls fell to the ground and hugged their brother's lifeless body.
MinSeok, their second son just stood there in shock, unable to absorb the scene before him. This simply could not be true. The older brother who was always smiling and doing anything in his power to keep his family comfortable could not have taken his own life. The MinJun Hyung he knew was stronger than this. The MinJun Hyung he knew was so incredibly strong. His MinJun Hyung never even complained. So, how could he have taken his own life?
Back at the palace, HyunWoo was oblivious to the chaos ensuing at the meadow and was instead busying taking care of Ari or rather, carrying out all of her demands.
But world travelled like a forest fire and soon reached the Royal Palace.
"What?" HyunWoo exclaimed and stood up.
The messenger looked down and bowed.
"That is the truth your highness." He said.
Hyunwoo grabbed his shirt and stared dead into his eyes.
"This is not funny. You better be telling the truth. Did my Appa tell you to tell me this?" He yelled.
The messenger sighed and shook his head. He let go of his shirt and tears pricked his eyes. He refused to believe such foul words. He was not going to accept the fact that MinJun had left him.
Tears began gushing out and he fell to the ground. MinJun was his only source of strength so with him gone, how was he supposed to live? His heart was heavy and his brain, empty. All he could think of was his MinJun Hyung. And he had to go there now. Though his Father and guards tried to stop him, he pushed past all of them and ran as fast as he could to the meadow once again. There, he saw Mrs Hwang and the younger kids around a pale, lifeless body. The body of his love.
"MinJun Hyung!" He ran over and fell next to him as tears fell like a faulty faucet.
He scooped MinJun up and hugged him so tightly, trying to find the warmth he once felt but was only met with an icy embrace.
"HyunWoo-ah..." Mrs Hwang mumbled.
He faced her and immediately hugged her as both cried into each others shoulders.
"I have failed as a Mother. I knew my MinJun was suffering but couldn't gather the courage to ask. And now... I can never ask him." She cried.
He shook his head and bawled harder than before. When night fell, he dragged his feet back to the palace. The second he entered, the King began yelling his head off.
