Chapter 3

I knocked off work early then usual and headed home. When I got home I found Andrew's parents waiting for me. I made my way to the house pissed. What are they doing here?? I've had enough drama in my life and I don't need more of it right now.

I got in the house and found them sitting comfortably on the couch that I brought. "Marissa, my baby it's been long since we've seen you. Come here my baby." She said to me smiling and putting her hands out for me. I faked smiled and made my way to her and hugged her. "Hey Matilda it's been long since we've seen each other. " I stated not wanting to sound harsh towards her.

She let go of me and motioned for me to sit down on the couch next to her and Andrew's father, Joseph. I simply sat and looked at the two wrinkled people in front of me. "Matilda and Joseph it's really been a while since I've seen y'all. If I may ask, what are you two doing here??" I asked.

"We want to know what's actually going on between you and Andrew. The family lawyer called asking if we knew anything about Andrew getting a divorce and we said no because we were left shocked. So we came here to ask you what's actually happening between the two of you." Matilda stated.

I just stared at the parents and sighed. "Matilda and Joseph it's very sad because what your family lawyer told you is true. Andrew found someone who makes him and I'm going to be left with this burden in me since he's fighting for everything I've worked for."

They both looked at me shocked. I'm sure they were happy to know I was going to give birth to their grandchild but yet the father was gay and wanted nothing to do with it. "Did I hear you correctly?? You pregnant??" I just nodded. She squealed like a toddler girl after getting a Barbie doll for Christmas. She got up and came to were I was and squeezed me as she hugged.

"I-I can't-t breath Matilda." I said breathlessly. She finally let go of me and clapped her hands together. "I'm so happy for you. I thought I was gonna die without having any grandchildren from Andrew." She said showing me a happy smile.

I held her hands and led her to sit down again. "Matilda yes it's very exciting to be expecting a grandchild for you too but Andrew and I are getting divorced and I don't even thing he wants to be part of the baby's life."

Joseph gave me a questioning look. "And why would you say that??" He asked. I looked at him and knew that what I was about to say to them would devastate them. "Matilda, Joseph... Andrew is gay."

The looked at me in shock. It looked like their hearts had shattered and were washed down the drain. Matilda broke down in tears as Joseph pulled her in towards him. "And that is why he filed a divorce for us. I mean I won't be standing in the way of his happiness but I'm gonna fight for everything I've build that he wants to take away from me."

Matilda looked at me with her teary eyes. "So, where are you going to go to now??" She asked with her shaky voice. "I'm going to move back to Los Angeles and I'd get a new job and start a new life there."

"What about the baby Marissa?? You can't take that away from us." Joseph stated. It is true, I wasn't going to deny them the baby because of Andrew. I could stay until the baby is born then leave her or him with the grandparents.

"What if I stay until the baby is born then I'll if her or him with you two hmm?? How about that?? Sounds good??" I asked and patiently waiting for an answer from the grandparents.

They looked at each other as if it was a way of discussing this matter and after a few minutes they looked back at me and nodded. "But will Andrew say when he finds out??" "Matilda I already told you Andrew told me he wants nothing to do with the baby so I let him be so even if he finds out he'll will not do anything because he moved on and if he tries anything to my baby, I'll have him arrested for that."

The parents nodded and stood up. I stood up as well and made my way towards them and hugged them. Matilda was still crying from unbelievable story I've just told her and her husband. "Matilda darling, I'll make sure Andrew never takes everything from you, not after you worked hard for these." Joseph said, motioning his hand around the house.

"Don't worry about it Joseph I'll fight for it." I let go of them and moved away from them. They both walked towards the door and before the left, they shot me weak smiles.

I had already taken a shower and was in my clean pajamas while I was watching a Netflix series called the order. It's kind of a horror series which makes it more interesting. I was sipping on some iced coffee that I ordered earlier after taking a shower.

I suddenly heard my front door open and it revealed Andy. She walked in holding Burger King's brown paper bag. She knows me too well. I smiled as she closed the door and walked towards me. She placed the paper bag on my coffee table and threw herself on my couch besides me.

We were busy eating and talking while laughing as we watched the comedy movie she had chosen when she got here. "Oh before I forget, Andrew's parents were here." She rolled her eyes. "Argh what did they want now??" "When the baby is born, they'll be taking it away from me as I leave town."

"Marissa you really serious about leaving huh??" "I want to start a new life come on Andy." "Why can't you find your love here." "No one has caught my eye yet." She looked and me thinking.

"What about the lawyer you were with today??" She asked wiggling her eyebrows and showing an evil smile. "No Andy me and her are only connected professionally." I said laughing at her.

"But you didn't see how she looked at you when we entered your office." "Oh come on she was looking at me professionally." "That's not what I saw hey."

"I think you overstayed your visit and Lisa is probably waiting home for you." I said pushing her away from me.

"Okay, okay, okay I'll leave just let me say good bye to my baby right here." She said laughing and putting her hand on my tummy. She kneeled in front of me and kissed my tummy. She then started speaking to the baby.

"Your mommy is getting grumpy because of the truth I just told her, but it's okay she'll find out the truth for herself. I'll be going now so take care of mommy and yourself, don't bother mommy too much okay. I love you." She said the last part kissing my tummy too many times.

She got up and kissed my forehead mumbling a good night while making her way to the door.

"Don't you want me to stay so I can tuck in to bed?" She asked with a pout. "No Andy go away please." I giggled and stood up walking to the door. She left the house and I was left alone locking up all my doors and going to sleep.

Is this the meaning of life huh?
