Starting from the back of the grid wasn't as hard as I thought it was. Obviously I made up a few positions on the first lap but got annoyed quite quickly. Bloody drs trains.
On lap 8 I heard on my radio that Pérez had a problem with the car and had to retire from the race. I knew how overwhelmed you could get with a DNF so he felt slightly sorry for Checo but he had to keep pushing.
Lap 20 Mick retired from the race aswell. The German still has to score his first pints but he admires the young German man for his braveness and kindness.
By the time lap 70 comes I am in 5th and take the chequered flag. I expected to maybe be P4 or P3 even but not today unfortunately. I was 15 seconds behind Max anyway. Carlos got P2 and I was happy for him but I really wanted him to win. Not because they need points for the constructor's championship but he deserves a first win in Formula 1.
I watches the podium celebrations with the team and heads to do my media duties. I kinda hate doing these interviews after such a physical and mental race but that's the life of a driver isn't it.

When I finally finished everything I needed to do I headed straight to my car when I saw Daniel out of the corner of my eye. I decided my bed could wait and walked over to him.
"Hey Daniel!"
The Aussie turned and a smile appeared on his face.
"Hey Charles, good race ay. Congrats"
"Thanks it's only a P5 but at least I got good points"
Daniel's went a bit sad with the mention of points.
"I'm sorry about your race Dan, you were so close to points"
"Thanks mate. It's hard though. I just...... I just can't drive this car it's getting harder and harder and even when I find it going a little bit easier and am happy with it I always have someone changing the car or whatever"
Charles feels sad. He hadn't realized that Daniel had been feeling this way. It kinda reminded him of himself. He had heard the rumors about Daniel not having a seat for next year he wasn't deaf but it hurt him seeing the fun and happy Daniel being like this.
"Dan you were there for me when I was having a rough time with Ferrari, Jules and my dad. I know that it may be hard right now but those who love you will brighten your day and start a new one like you did for me. You showed me brightness Daniel and I am so grateful for that. So if you ever need me, I'm only a call away"
He looked at Daniel straight in the eyes and he swear he saw tears building up in his eyes.
"Thank you Charles, I..... I really appreciate it. And you know.. Jules and your dad would be so proud of you."
And before he knew it he was hugging Daniel. They stayed in a tight embrace before starting to get stiff from standing in the same position for too long.
"Would you like to go for some drinks Charles"
"Sure why not"
As they head for Charles's car and get in Daniel suddenly says....
"I think I need a few drinks before Silverstone because of all the talk about Max and Lewis last year" he laughs.
Charles couldn't help but smile. Daniel always had a way to make him smile even in his lowest time.
" I can agree on that one mate"
"Well let's get drinking then" said the usual happy Daniel.
