My eyes stayed wide as I watch the red haired boy saunter out of the cafeteria doors. I could hear nothing but my heartbeat pounding in my ears as the three boys seemed to come to me at once. My mouth was slightly agape as Calum grabbed my elbow, pulling me to look at him instead of the set of metal double doors that strange boy had disappeared behind.
"Cassandra. I need you to tell me exactly what he said to you, please. He's trouble, big trouble, and there is no way in hell that Clifford is getting to you, okay?" The tanned boy said sternly. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I shook my head laughing faintly.
"Cal, I can promise you that I am completely okay. All he did was say that I was pretty and that I'm a good singer before he kissed my cheek and walked of. Trust me, I have no interest in him, whatsoever. You need not to worry." I pushed softly between the boys before walking back to the table where Ashton and Luke previously sat.
For some reason, what I had told the boys seemed untrue and I was almost completely sure that my voice wavered as I spoke.
"So, it's your first day here and you already have Clifford the big red dick all over you. That's impressive, Cass." Alex chuckled and took a bite of his pizza. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. It suddenly felt awkward sitting with people who I didn't even know. I barely knew Ashton and Luke, come to think of it. The thoughts faded from my mind as the two sat by me quickly dismissing the previous minutes happenings and moving into a different conversation.
----
I tapped my pencil on the desk as I stared out the window in the last period class. Ashton and Luke had argued with the math teacher for a good while on where I would sit. Since what happened earlier, the boys didn't want me near Michael and they didn't want me leaving without one of them.
This was fine by me but when sixth period rolled around, then rule couldn't be followed. The only open seat was across the room for the two friends of mine and right in front of him.
Durring the class I felt like someone was constantly staring at me. I didn't think much of it until I looked up to find that the red head's eyes were fixated on me.
'Fuck' I thought to myself as I quickly averted my gaze to Luke who sat perfectly still glaring holes into the back of Michael's head. My glance then landed on Ashton gritting his teeth and staring dead ahead, seemingly zoned out.
Once the bell rang everyone started shoving and pushing just to leave, which meant my friends had been swooped into the masses. I stood on my toes searching desperately for either of them then packed my things as I started to realize it was hopeless.
As I was about to put my headphones in someone cleared their throat. I turned slowly on my heels to see the one thing I wanted to avoid. He sent a side smile down to me before leaning back on the desk behind him.
"Well look who decided to acknowledge my existence. I'm shocked, baby girl." The nickname sent shivers down my spine but not in a bad way. I decided then and there that I would show him that I was not going to be his 'baby girl'.
Shoving the strap of my bag up and shifting my weight on my feet I gave him a stern look. "Listen here and listen good, Clifford," I spat his name as if it were the most foul taste in the world. "I'm not going to bow at your feet or fall for you just like that since you've got this 'bad boy' look to you." After using air quotations I gestured towards his clothing. "Now, please do me a favor and fuck off."
I held my shoulders high as I sauntered past him and out of the room.
Holy shit, that was badass.
