Carlton's pov~

I climb up the trellis of Rosewilt in the pitch black, trying my best to avoid the deadly fall below. I've done this many times before, though, each time I feel like the trellis is going to break and fall off. I manage to grab the window sill trim and not surprisingly it was wide open. The silk curtains were flowing calmly in the wind and I climbed inside. He was just asking for visitors. When I got inside, John was curled up in a ball sobbing on his bed. "John..?" I whispered as I slowly came closer to the other side of the bed. "Go away!" He whimpered through his tears. I sat down, clutching his hands in mine. "Stop being stubborn." He sits up, looking away from me. "I don't want you to get hurt," What? John continued, "My father threatened to hurt you if he ever saw you here again. I love you, but I don't want you to die." I scoffed, "He's lying to you, he wouldn't lay a finger on me." John let go of my hands and got up, walking towards his bookshelf, "You obviously don't get it, Carlton Burke," he said, lowering his tone so he would be more serious-sounding, "Ace will not stop until he gets me away from you, I don't really have a choice here." He picked up a sword, which made my stomach drop. The sword looked like it hadn't been used yet, as it was very sharp. "There's only one way." He came back over to the bedside, "John, you're a good person...you don't have to do this."I said, placing a hand on his shoulder, to which he had no reaction. "What's the point in being good if I'm just going to get hurt time and time again?" He chuckled as if this was some kind of joke. "What if you fail to kill him? What happens then?" I asked. John held out his hand, and I took it. He pulled me off of the bed and hugged me, "I would do anything to hold you like this, my love. I will kill him." When we finally released the hug, we just stood there looking at eachother, which felt like forever. "If I don't come back, just run for your life, don't look back at this place." He spoke to me quietly, like we weren't the only people in the room. He walked out of the room, sword in hand.

John's pov~

And this is the day I started questioning my own sanity.

I walked down the halls of Rosewilt, picking up my pace as I went. When I made it to my father's room, I went right in, he had his door unlocked like he was waiting for some assassin to come and end his life. "What do you want?" His voice echoed in the room, I didn't dare speak, if he found out it was me, I would be in great trouble. Carlton as well. I gripped onto the blade I held so tight that my hand was sweating and my knuckles were turning white. "It's time for you to die. You will never be my father. You're nothing but a monster." I whispered as I got to the bed side. I raised the blade, hesitating for a moment. "Johnathan, you're not me." My father whispered, "Go be with your lover." He said. I paused in that position, utterly confused. The door flung open, and Carlton came through the door. My dad was looking up at me, hoping my decision would be the right one. I dropped the sword, and my father sighed in relief. "Hehe, I knew you had a soft spot for me." He sat up, patting me on the shoulder. "Get away from him, Ace." Carlton spoke in a loud voice, walking over to my side. "I'm his father! Why don't you go away? You're a bad influence." My father said, and Carlton crossed his arms, looking away. I grabbed Carlton's arm, "I'll keep him in line." I smiled, walking out of his room like everything was normal and I hadn't just tried to murder him.
