"He's just a negative nancy!"
**

Parker

I walk out of the classroom and to the main commons area with the couches and tables to study. I sit down in the chair with a pillow and set my things up.

Usually after my break for today I have lunch, so I just take a granola bar from my bag and snacked on that. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Sierra sitting down beside me, headphones around her neck, and Ty sitting across from us.

The three of us have a break together and we either spend the time getting food, Starbucks, work done, or just mess around really. I open up a tab for my english essay and Ty opens up his AP World History book.

"How are you even passing that class, I would cry." I say to him, pointing to the book.

He smirks playfully, "It's because I actually pay attention in class."

"I do pay attention!" I retort and he laughs.

Ty and I joke around for a bit and we realize Sierra is completely focused on her laptop. I scoot near her to see what's got her so focused and I see the prom planning sheet she's working on.

Sierra is in student council and she was picked for the prom committee. She's been working on this for the past weeks or so. Prom comes early for our school, not in may. It's usually a while after football ends and that's coming up soon.

"Last prom ever for you to plan," I nudge her and she glares at me for messing up her typing. Ty laughs at my widened eyes.

"It's quite a stressful thing," she huffs.

Ty closes his book shut and plays with the pencil in his hands, twirling it around effortlessly. If I tired to do that, I would probably throw it somehow across the room and poke someone's poor eye out.

"Are you guys excited for the promposals you guys might get?" Ty wiggles his eyebrows mischievously and I roll my eyes at him.

Sierra shrugs, "If Kaydon does something cheesy I'm going to be really disappointed in that boy." I nod in agreement.

"Same with Evan,"

Ty groans in frustration. "I can't even think of a good proposal for C. I need it to be perfect!"

"You have time Ty, don't worry about it." Sierra says, reassuring him. He shakes his head.

"Parker, do you have an idea what Evan will probably do for your proposal?" she asks me. I think about it for a moment. He isn't the dance type of guy, but would he do it for me?

Ty snorts, "I'm not even sure that kid owns a suit." Sierra shoots him a glare and I narrow my eyes at Ty.

"He doesn't like suits," I defend him. "Let him live! You don't like them either."

After a while we just focused on our work, saying something occasionally to each other. While I was working in my essay, I constantly kept thinking about prom and Evan. He isn't the dance type of guy, but he would do it for me.

Does he even know what a promposal is? Probably not, but that's okay. It's still a few months away, but I'm nervous. What if he doesn't even wanna go?

"Have you guys heard from your colleges yet?" Sierra closes her laptop and leans back.

I shake my head and so does Ty. Something that's heartbreaking is that the whole group is going ti different colleges. Besides Kay and Si. They both applied to PennState.

Ty wants to go to NYU, Blake applied for Cornell— which is incredible—, and Cameron has been dreaming to go to University of Texas in Austin. We're gonna be separated across the country.

"How's Evan dealing with you applying for USC?" Ty asks me. I shake my head.

"I'm probably just gonna get rejected." I sigh, and Sierra smacks me with the pillow. Ty shakes his head.

"If you seriously think you're gonna get rejected then that's bullshit," Ty chuckles.

Sierra nods in agreement, "If Evan doesn't like your decision, then who gives a fuck? He has to understand that this is your choice!"

I shush her to keep quiet since there's a few students that are on his baseball team. Si rolls her eyes and I just stare out at the door.

"I don't know you guys," I shrug. "What if UCLA is better for me?"

They didn't get the chance to respond since Ty saw someone walking to the bathroom and he jumps right up, rushing towards them.

"Davis!"

Blake shoves him away lightly and waves at us. Si waves and I do a short one, to which he just ignores.

"Are you and Blake okay?" Si asks, once he's in the bathroom.

Ty snorts, "He's so jealous."

"He is not," I smack Ty's arm. "He's been just so frustrating lately, I don't know why."

For the past weeks, him and I have had tons of arguments that were petty, stupid, and just dumb. We never had this happen really, I don't know why it's happening now.

The old him would never be so cold and closed off. Hs's a goofy guy, with bright eyes, and the kindest smile. He was like the sun to the darkness, my mom told me. She's right.

Sierra rubs my shoulder reassuringly, "He's just probably frustrated without finding a girl or because of football."

Ty nods along, "Don't worry about him. I'll talk to him tonight."

I smile at them both. They both truly are my best friends and I love them so fucking much.

The bell rings and we all get our stuff together to go to class. Si hugs me tight before we go.

"Don't worry about him too much," she whispers. "He'll come around." I nod and they both walk away to their classes while I slowly go the other way to mine.

"He's just a negative nancy!" I hear Ty shout and I chuckle to myself.

I fucking hope he'll come around. He's my best friend. Or I guess was my best friend.
