"I want her to be happy, I just don't think he'll do that."
**Blake
"Blake, the plates go here!" Melly shouts at me from the back as I put it an order for a table. I groan, walking back.
"How many times do I have to tell you-" she starts coughing a bit before shouting at me again. "Plates on the rack, bowls by the cabinet over there."
She grabs a plate of burgers and wings, quickly walking out and I hear her mumble a quick, "Lord save this boy." before getting out of the kitchen.
Melly has decided to let me help her for today after half an hour of begging. I pretty much have nothing to do after school besides football. Also, I just wanted to see the many customer stories that Melly talks about. Plus, I think checking on Melly more seems like a good idea. She's been coughing and got the cold twice a while back so why not just check up on her now and then.
I start grabbing more orders and start handing them out to people. The hot plates burn through my hands, but gotta fight through that shit.
The last order is to a group of teenage girls sitting near the front. These girls have been eyeing me for a while now and I am quite uncomfortable.
Not with girls, the stares.
Just as I set their order down, one of the girls was about to talk to me but just in time, the door rang and I immediately smile as Parker, Si, and Cam walk in.
Cameron immediately sees me and starts cracking a laugh. "No way," she says in between chuckles and I quickly walk away from the group of girls to her.
She gives me a hug, quickly noticing the girls behind me as she does.
"Oh for god's sake he's her brother." I hear Parker say to them. I pull away from Cam to see her usual eye roll. The girls all look away with a tinge of red on their cheeks from embarrassment.
"What are you doing here after practice?" Si asks, ruffling my hair. I shrug.
"Came to check on Melly and wanted to work a few days a week."
Parker just glances once in a while and saunters over to the pick up shelf for what I think is their order for their girl's night tonight.
"Girl's night?" I raise an eyebrow to Si and Cam. They both smile cheekily and Parker comes back.
She hands the bag to Sierra and wipes her hands on her shorts. She turns to me and raises an eyebrow at the apron on me.
"Please don't tell me you cook in the back." Cam shakes her head at her and chuckles.
"I'm a great chef, Sanchez. You're just picky," I start to walk on back to the back room. She follows along as the other two go say hellos to Melly.
I grab my water bottle and take a quick swig as she leans against the desk in the small space. Her hair falls behind her almost past her hips. She takes a look around the place, avoiding my gaze on purpose. She has that look on her that wants to ask a question but is refusing to.
I stand beside her, looking around as well.
"So you found me a date yet?" I ask to ease the awkwardness. She rolls her eyes again and I take a peek at her. I'm glad I did just in time to see her bright smile.
