His hand reaches out to pull the bushes away. I close my eyes and hope for the best.
He pulls back the bushes, "Who are you?" he asks.
What don't say? 'Hello, mysterious rider. My name is Ivy and the princess of the lost kingdom' I think not.
"Hey, I'm Ivy," I say instead.
"What are you doing here? Did my parents send you?" he demands.
"What?! You parents? I don't even know your parents." I stand and step away from the bushes. I face him. Holy cow the guy is hot. I look into his eyes. I'm mistaken. He doesn't have brown eyes, up close, I see his eyes have green flecks in them. His - very beautiful - eyes look me up and down.
"How long have you been here?" he asks.
"Is the only one thing you do ask questions?" I put my hands on my hips and cock my head. He turns away and walks toward Ruby.
"Fine, you ask."
I smirk, "What's your name?"
He goes quiet for a bit.
"Eric," he says.
I smile, "Alright Eric, to answer your question, I've been here since yesterday night."
Eric looks at me shocked, "Wow," he exclaims, "What brings you here at night?"
I look down at the ground. What do I say? Should I tell him the truth? Or should I lie? I pick the latter.
"I was taking an evening walk when I heard some wolves. I ran and got lost."
Eric nods like he understands. He starts petting Ruby.
"I can take you home if you want."
I look up at him, "Really?"
He nods again. I look up at the sky in thought. Maybe I should take his offer. I have no idea where I am. Uncle Max's map doesn't cover this part of the land. Maybe he can take me to a nearby village. I'll get some supplies, and ask for directions.
I nod, "Okay."
He stops petting Ruby and looks at me, "Really?" he asks.
"Really," I respond.
His face breaks into a smile. I stare at him. He should smile more. He looks dazzling when he smiles. He motions for me to come closer. He helps me onto Ruby first, then mounts himself. I end up behind him.
"Hold on tight Ivy. This trip is a day long."
I wrap my arms around his waist. He moves Ruby's reins and we start moving.
