The next day, I wake up to the sound of hooves.

"Come on Ruby! Don't fail me now!"

I fully open my eyes. A voice? In the forest? I sit up. Up ahead a male rider is mounted on his horse. Suddenly, I remember I'm a (almost) run away princess. I quickly pack up my stuff and hide behind the nearest bush. As the male rider gets closer, I'm able to make out his features. Light brown hair, almost looking gold in the morning sun light. And beautiful brown eyes. Once he and his horse are a couple feet away from my hiding place, he sighs and dismounts.

"Seriously Ruby?! You decide to take a break here and now?! You know I need to be home in two days. My parents would kill me if I was late again." The boy pulls an apple from the bag he's carrying, he holds it out for Ruby (I'm pretty sure that's her name). Ruby snorts as if answering him, and eats the apple from the palm of his hand. He sighs again.

"Fine, we'll take a five minute break." He sighs one more time, runs his hands through his hair, and sits beside Ruby.

I decide to leave now before he realizes I'm here. I slowly back away. Unfortunately for me, I step on a twig alerting him of my presence. I curse under my breath when I see him stand up and look around. Most likely looking for the source of the sound. His eyes zero in on my hiding place. I curse again and crouch. The only thing I can do now is hope for a distraction. He keeps getting closer and closer. He stops in front of the bushes I'm hiding behind. His hand reaches out to pull the bushes away. I close my eyes and hope for the best.
