"Welcome home," Eddie says lightheartedly, opening the door to the boathouse for Jazmin. "Well, for the next few days at least."
She forces a small smile in response.
"You okay?" He walks inside behind the girl, closing the door tightly.
"Yeah- yeah, I'm fine," she lies, not in a suitable head space to respond.
Eddie sticks out his tongue slightly in thought as he pushes garbage around, moving it towards the side so they can stay in a semi-clean space. "You know," he pipes up, looking over at her, "if you wanna talk about it you can."
Jazmin sighs, lowering herself to sit on the ground where had Eddie just cleaned. "It's just- I don't know. What even happened back there?"
Eddie walks toward the girl, bending his knees and sitting crosslegged across from her. "I don't know either. But whatever it was, we'll figure it out, okay? We can leave in the morning, maybe even go to the police-"
"No! No definitely not. The police won't believe us- I-I mean, Chrissy literally levitated. That even sounds crazy. They'll think we killed her," Jazmin interjects, looking worriedly up at Eddie through her brown eyes.
"Fuck- right. I didn't even think of that," Eddie notices her worried expression and reaches out both of his hands. She immediately places hers onto his own, the two feeling a small wave of relief at the others touch.
"It's gonna be okay Jazzy, we'll get through this one way or another, okay?" He reassures her. Jazmin nods softly, looking down at their hands.
"Promise?"
"I promise."
She smiles at him, letting go of his hands. He walks to his van, leaving her sitting on the floor.
When he comes back, he hands her a beer and a candy bar. Sitting across from her again, he pops his beer bottle open. "Sorry, this all I had in the van and I figured you were hungry and we probably won't sleep and-"
She reaches her hand out and covers his mouth to get him to shut up. "It's fine. Thank you Eddie."

"What was that?!" Jazmin jumps, looking toward the window.
"It was nothing. You're being paranoid. Nobody ever comes here."
"No, no I swear I heard something."
"Jazmin, really. It was probably just a squirrel or something."
"Eddie, really, I swear I-"
Just as she was about to finish her sentence, another loud noise could be heard from outside.
"Shit!" Eddie exclaims, suddenly on high alert.
"Go look out the window," Jazmin urges, pushing on his arm a bit.
"Why do I have to do it? You go look out the window!" He argues.
"Fine, whatever! I'll do it, Jesus."
Eddie bites his nails nervously as Jazmin edges toward the window. He groans as she gets closer and quickly grabs her arm, pulling her behind him. "I'll do it."
She smiles in victory as she nudges him forward, following closely behind. Eddie peeks out of the corner of the window, making out a car in the distance. "God damn it," he mumbles. "In the boat. Now."
