Chapter Three

The breakfast they served was a bit bland. Artemis' favorite thing was the toast which said a lot. She'd ought to speak to one of the professors about the menu. She ate quietly as she unconsciously eavesdropped. Draco rambled again on how great his family was, a pug faced girl named Pansy spoke about how great Draco and his family. But once Pansy caught wind of Artemis' eavesdropping, she spoke about the audacity someone would have to speak ill of the Malfoy family. That was Artemis' cue to quit eavesdropping. About a hundred owls streamed into the Great Hall, circling tables until they saw their owners, and dropping letters and packages onto their laps. Apollo's owl swooped down, dropping off a letter to Artemis and Apollo. The letter read:

Dear Artemis,

Congratulations once again on making it into Hogwarts! And congratulations on making it into Slytherin! My dear daughter, I hope you have the most fun during your classes. Soak up all the knowledge! Knowing your brain, I bet you will be able to understand the material better than the professors. It's your first day of Hogwarts and I hope you enjoy as much as your father and I enjoyed during our time. Please be careful and listen to your professors and prefects!

Love,

Mom <3

A smile grew across her face, her heart growing in warmth.

"Artemis!" Artemis heard Draco yell.

"Yes?" She knew exactly what happened.

"Why did you not care enough to share the vital information about your family with me before I sent my letter to my father, regarding your unpleasantness! I got an earful from my father telling me to respect you and your stupid family!"

"Well calling us stupid is no way to respect us. Secondly it's not my fault you are not caught up with history"

"What's going on?" Alex appeared between Artemis and Draco.

"Artemis here, did not let me know that she is the daughter of Jeong Han and Xeni Stravos! The descendents of legends and supposedly descendents of Hecate!" Draco exclaimed.

"She did tell you. She told you her father's name. And if you piece two and two, you'd put together that she is their daughter" Alex responded.

"What pieces? There could be multiple people with their father's name being Jeong Han!"

"First clue, her father's name. Second clue is her appearance, she's obviously mixed. Third clue is the fact that she has a twin brother named Apollo. And lastly, last week's paper states that the twin children of Jeong Han and Xeni Stravos will be attending Hogwarts, making their first appearance in public after years."

Draco's face went red as he tried to come up with another remark. Instead he went back to his seat, huffing and puffing in anger. Everyone else who overheard the conversation, making it almost everyone since the hall went quiet after Alex and Draco went head to head, turned to look at Artemis and Apollo. Apollo, who was sitting at the opposite side, was eating peacefully oblivious to the stares. Chatter grew throughout tables about the other new 'celebrities', other Slytherins suddenly became interested in becoming Artemis' friend.

"I heard you and your brother have almost been killed. Well that someone tried to kill you both. What happened? Were you scared?" a black haired girl asked.
A flood of questions were being asked. Most questions were invasive. And most were along the lines of 'how did they try to kill you?', 'Who tried to kill you?' and her personal favorite 'why did they try to kill you?' Luckily her first class, Potions, started soon, so she made her way to the room. Waiting for Professor Snape didn't help her attempt to avoid any of those questions. Alex helped her swat away those pesky nosy Slytherins. Even the Gryffindors who shared the same class, bothered Apollo. Except Apollo was proudly answering each and every of their answers. Giving up on Artemis, the nosy Slytherins slid over to Apollo. The only one, other than Alex, who wasn't making much of a fuss was Harry. He seemed relieved that the attention for once wasn't on him. He caught Artemis looking at him so she gave him a soft smile.

Professor Snape appeared in front of the classroom. He began by reading the roll call off the rolled parchment paper. After he called out Apollo's and Artemis' names, he paused.

"Welcome to Hogwarts, Hans," he said softly.

Artemis gave him a light smile as a thank you. She turned to Alex, giving him a 'what the hell' look. She didn't expect teachers to give her some type of treatment. She hoped that none of the other teachers would do something like that. Sadly, she was disappointed. Every other teacher, except Professor McGonnagall who only gave her a smile, treated her with more respect. As privileged as she was, Artemis hoped to live normally. She wished to be just another Hogwarts student, but it seemed her wish wouldn't come true anytime soon. She felt guilty as she secretly hoped everyone would place their focus towards Harry again.

She had a load of free time in between classes. Artemis thanked the gods for gracing her with only two classes, three days a week. History of magic was a little bit boring, as she knew most of the material. She wondered if she could test out like muggle schools she read about. Charms was fun, except Artemis couldn't stop comparing Professor Flitwick to other small items and animals. It made the class a little bit more fun. Transfiguration was such a joy. Their first task was to turn a match into a needle. And as expected Artemis was the only one in her class to succeed. Artemis was curious about Defense Against the Dark Arts but she was disappointed as Professor Quirrell's lessons were a bit of a joke. Plus he and his classroom reeked of garlic. He claimed it was to ward off vampires or something like that. Artemis stopped listening and wandered off, hoping she wouldn't reek of garlic afterwards. Magical theory was by far Artemis' least favorite class. It bore her to death.

She had caught up with Apollo, checking in on how he was adjusting to Hogwarts. Both twins had been feeling guilty of how much joy they had being apart. It wasn't like they hated each other. They only had each other for years after the assassination attempt. It was only natural for them to be at each other's throats most of the time. Being sorted into different houses was a very good change for them. They would always be each other's best friends but they also needed their own space.

Friday arrived with social exhaustion for Artemis. She had never been so social or social in general. She grew very used to having time to herself that it started to be difficult relaxing with so many people around all the time. She had contemplated whether or not to ask her parents for help. Meaning her parents requesting Professor Dumbledore to allow Artemis a room to herself. She knew she could but it wasn't right or fair. She didn't want to seem ungrateful and prissy like that prick Malfoy. Artemis instead thought of ways to solve her problem. She wondered if there was an empty room where she could have some time to herself and wouldn't be interrupted. She looked at the clock and it was time to have double potions with the Gryffindors.

Professor Snape grilled Harry unfairly. He didn't ask any Slytherins questions, who were laughing uncontrollably. Fury grew in Artemis as he continued to make Harry a fool. She hated unfairness, especially when unneeded. Snape must have some type of fuss with Harry, Artemis thought. After letting Harry go, he proceeded to answer his own questions. Writing with every intent to soak up the information, Artemis tried to focus on the class instead of the weird fuss between Snape and Harry. The class itself was pretty fun. Mixing all those different ingredients but having to be real careful was a blast. Neville had gotten red boils all over himself by not adding the porcupine quills after taking the cauldron off the fire. Yet Professor Snape found a way to blame Harry, taking yet another house point from him. Yeah there's definitely something going on between those two.

After potions, Artemis had to rush to Herbology which started in 10 minutes. Whoever made these schedules should go to hell. Herbology was okay, Artemis was mostly tired and hungry, counting down the minutes to go eat lunch. After lunch, she went down to her dormitory and fell asleep right through dinner. At 11:45pm, she was woken up by a fellow classmate, reminding her of the astronomy class they had in 15 minutes. She rushed out of bed and made it just in time for class. Still half asleep, she rubbed her eyes and yawned as her stomach growled. Embarrassed, Artemis covered her stomach. Alex, who was beside her, tapped her and secretly revealed a pumpkin pasty. Artemis gladly accepted the gift with a happy smile and a happier stomach. Throughout the class, she ate in secret while maintaining to pay attention to the lesson. Artemis had trouble falling back asleep. She waited until everyone else was asleep to read a fictional novel. After forty minutes, she ended up asleep.
