I woke up from my tiny, yet comfortable bed to hear my phone ring. I reached my hands to the bed desk to check the time.
6 am and someone is calling this early? I said to myself. It was the weekend and I was happy that this one time I had a peaceful sleep but no someone decides to ruin my morning with calls.
The phone kept ringing. I sluggishly move my hands around to find my phone. I hated the noise so I rushed to pick up the call without checking who it was.Ahhhhhhh... A scream from the call end.
I'm getting married. My eyes balled out from its socket. I glanced back at my phone screen to see the caller who is ready to pull my ears off.
My heart kept racing fast when I realized my youngest sister was getting married. My face went pale to the thought of it."Omyyyy Ini that's some good news. Who is the lucky guy?"
"Seun proposed." She hastily replied.
I could hear the excitement and giggles.
Wait, was it the same Seun who had broken her heart a million times? C'mon, this was one relationship that gave me hope. I mean I know the popular saying "breakfast is for everyone" but I never thought one could be served this breakfast and yet want to stay.
Tems was right when she said crazy things are happening. Because how can a heart be broken a million times? Like how?"The same Seun we both know?" I curiously asked.
"Yes, sis. Seun made a mistake but I believe he loves me. He has proven this a lot of times. I'm not perfect, no one is. So why not forgive and be happy."
I gave in a big sigh. I hate to hear these perfect quotes.
"Does mom know about this?" Eagerly waiting for her response.
"No, I thought I should let you know first." She said.
I had a sigh of relief. I wasn't about to hear another long sermon about marriage from mom.
"Well, your happiness matters right now. I said.
So we've got a wedding to plan. Send details of everything to my email. And I'm so happy for you."Thank you, sis. Talk to you later.
She hung up.
Hmmm. Same Seun. Wow!
Have I been wrong the whole time? I thought to myself. These men may mean good. I was deep in thought. But later brought back from my thought when I heard a noise in the house.
That should be Emma. She just got back from a party. I hope she isn't drunk. I'm not ready to look after her ugly hangovers.I got up from my bed and took my night robe from the other side. I walked out of my room to see Emma who has already fallen asleep on the couch.
Emma was a party hard girl. The type everyone knew in the city. I wonder how we complemented each other but I loved her still. My worry has always been about her drinking habit. I tried my best to see her stop drinking but well Emma never listens. After taking a glance at her, to be sure she was okay. I made my way to the kitchen to make breakfast for us. My favorite thing to make is pancakes and milk. Although Emma wasn't a fan, I decided that I make the usual coffee when she gets up.
Saturdays are the busiest. And I was certain my boss would ask for a team meeting with the other staff. I hate when the boss tries to make life a living hell for their subordinates. I was excited at least it was summer and my boss will go on his usual vacation which saves everyone the stress to live a little.
It was 10 am. I was on my Pc going through all the assignments my boss had requested from the meeting we had earlier. A shadow leaned on my bedroom door. I sensed Emma was finally awake. I smiled before turning to look at the party girl who looked a mess.
