I found myself struggling out of a deep hole dug around the compound in my father's village which is never there. I was panting and screaming for help. My both hands were firmly clutched to the ground to find support, as my fingers were peeling the ground to find my way out while my legs were pressed by an invisible being. I lift my face to see a shadow that I perceived to be a giant making its way to me.
"Help, help!" my husky voice kept screaming at him. I was panting and same time happy I could find help to get me out. Wondering how I got here in the first place. This shadow kept walking closer, and before I knew it, I was pushed back to the hole by the same giant I had called out for help.
I let out a big scream, I saw myself almost ripped from my skin. A pool of sweat ran from my head to wherever it was dripping too. My clothes were soaked. My hands were on my chest gasping for air. I looked around to remind myself where I was and if this was the same hole I was kicked in.
"Ekom Ekom!" Emma ran out to find me sitting on my bed in my pool of sweats.
I jerked at the sound of my name. It dawned on me that I was dreaming all along. Tears from nowhere rolled down my cheeks.
I was wrapped in Emma's embrace. "Are you okay?"
"I had a dream." I stuttered. Took my time to explain what my dream was.
"Hmm... That's some new level of vision Ekom."
I stared confused.
"Yes now, there's a belief that when you dream in the day, it is not a dream but a vision." Emma continued.
My brows furrowed in shock...
"Yesssss. You do not know about this? This is a vision Ekom. Call your mom to ask."
I hesitantly called my mom after much push from Emma.
Mom answered after I had explained it to her.
"Hmm. This your dream is a warning o. When I advise you, you'll say I talk too much. Ekom you need prayers. A serious one.My mom was drifting to the marriage topic.
Mom I called you because I had a dream and not for a marriage class. I yelled out.
"Fine. I think you need to come home this weekend. I have a Pastor that runs deliverance on Wednesdays but I can book a session with him."
I rolled my eyes at the thought of it.
This woman thinks I have some sort of attack. Hmmm. Because how does my dream correlate with marriage?
"Are you there?" my mom asked after a cold silence between us.
"Yes, mom. I have a busy weekend - let's reschedule." I replied after bringing me back from my thoughts.
"Ekom! Ekom! I've said my own. It's your life."
I mumbled what even I can't hear, I glanced over to Emma whose expression was screaming curiosity.
I shrugged at her facial expressions, my lips smirking and my left hand counting its fingers.
Prayers are never a joke in my family, and dreams interpretation is the closest title after Joseph. Sometimes your dreams can even be interpreted by the ongoing events of your life just like what mine did with mine.
My mom hung up.
What did she say, Emma sat up to find answers to the said dream she thought mom would have answers to.
I sighed and reported my conversation with my mom.
"You'll be fine." She said. "She's probably right.
"No not the marriage part. You just need prayers and dreams like yours shouldn't be taken lightly." She said defensively.
