Lost in Depression

It was another day with Sonic grieving about his loss of Sally. His friends knew all too well Sonic would've just moved on ever since Sally and he wasn't in a relationship due to their breakup. Sonic only pretended he didn't care about Sally's disappearance or anything, but deep inside, he hated himself for losing her. Sally's disappearance and oblivion finally made Sonic show that he still harbored romantic feelings for Sally. Sonic had never talked about it since his friends just thought, "He's faking it. Sonic is Sonic, after all." Everyone thought about this the same way and never bothered asking Sonic about it. One particular day was, or used to be, Sally and Sonic's anniversary after they started dating and just being friends. It had been ten years, and Sonic wished he'd celebrated it with Sally and his friends. He went to the spot he and Sally last kissed. "Hey, Sally, I brought your favorite chocolate. I hope you like it." Sonic said to the tree. He sat down, sighing.

Then a stranger with a menacing aura came before Sonic. He looked at the grieving hedgehog and said, "You grief for a princess forgotten in time, don't you, proud and fearless hero?" Sonic stood up and looked at the menacing stranger in a black robe with a hidden face. The stranger was some feet taller than Sonic, but that didn't matter to the grieving hedgehog. "What do you know about Sally?!" Sonic said to the stranger, angered that he mentioned Sally without feeling one bit of regret. The stranger looked at Sonic and said, "Calm down, Sonic. I know you noticed that she has been missing, relatively speaking." "No! You do not know anything about Sally and You haven't seen her! You haven't heard of her! You haven't even met her! She has been missing, and everybody fucking knows!" Sonic replied aggressively. He was getting very pissed by the stranger's calm reactions.

Sonic sighed and sat down. "Get the fuck away from here, stranger! I'm not in the mood to talk about my lovely ex-girlfriend, who I miss so much!" Sonic said to the stranger and lay down to take a rest. The stranger looked at Sonic and said, "I may be involved with her disappearance since I know what exactly happened to her and her family." Sonic was surprised to hear this.

"You know what happened to her?!" Sonic shouted in shock.

"Yes, I know what happened to her since I WAS forced to take her away from you and your friends. You, mainly, haven't forgotten about her, which surprised me the most, and you are still grieving for her. All your friends, including your best friend, don't remember Sally. Only you do remember Sally, Sonic!"

"How did they forget about Sally?! I mean, she is [literally] my ex-girlfriend! How could they... how could they've done this?!" Sonic questioned the stranger.

"Sonic, stop freaking out. Stop asking me so many freakin' questions already! ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE! Listen to my offer or forget about seeing her ever again!" The stranger shouted at Sonic.

Awkward silence entered for a while until Sonic looked at the stranger and said, "Your words give me the feeling that you are Death himself? Why are you here? Am I dead? How did I die?"

"Sonic, you aren't dead. Your grief made me realize that the only way to heal the unhealed wounds of yours, Sonic." Death explained then continued, "But there are certain rules you MUST obey to complete and reunite forever with Princess Sally. Are you certainly sure you want to do it?" Sonic looked away and then back at Death.

"Yes, I'm ready to do it! Explain to me the rules and conditions I must obey and follow!" Sonic replied, clutching his fist.

Death smiled as he knew Sonic would do it anyway. He started explaining the rules to Sonic, "First rule: You must protect and keep Sally alive for a whole month. The land of the forgotten is a wasteland with minor and forgotten characters. People have forgotten them, and now their souls roam around, vengeful for those who stayed remembered. The second rule is to beware of the forgotten and not let them grab you. Their grasps are tight, and they could take you down with them easily. Always keep an eye out for them, Sonic. They are unpredictable. Third rule: Don't trust any of the forgotten except Sally! You only need her, Sonic! And one last thing, you can not turn back! Once you enter the land of the forgotten, there's no going back! So, are you ready to do it?"

Sonic hesitated, knowing Tails would be worried sick about him. Sonic accepted it, and with Death's nod, Death opened a dimensional portal.

"Enter the portal, and I'll come after this one month, and to ease your time, here's Father Time's magical clock. It will start ticking when you enter. Keep the clock so you can keep track of time." Death explained before Sonic entered.

Death soon followed him. Sonic found himself in the Acorn palace. It looked majestic and awe-striking like always. He pointed at Sally, who was next to her greyish brother. Elias was unalive, and he wasn't looking colorful like Sally. All his colors and the whole place were grey, black, and white. Sally looked like a sore thumb in this heartbreaking place. "Your stay shall begin now! We shall meet at the end of the month, Sonic. Until then, good luck surviving from them."
