RRRRRIIINNNNGGGGG! UGH!!! I hate alarm clocks. Nothing like a big wakeup call to start the day. Soooo refreshing, am I right? An alarm wakeup also means it's a school day. Double UGH. IT'S ALREADY 7:20!?!??!? School starts in 40 minutes, so I shout to Emily, who sleeps in the bed beside my bed, "WAKE UP, EMILY!!! You sleepyhead. The alarm clock spoke, it's 7:20, and it's a school day, so WAKE UP!!!"

"Just a few more minutes...Wait. WHAT??? It's already 7:20!?!?!?!? Let's go! We're going to be late, and I don't want to be late!"

"No one likes to be late. Hurry up, though. I think dad made pancakes, our favorite."

On our trip downstairs after we brush and clothe ourselves in record time, Emily whines. A little. OK, A LOT. I sigh, I mean, sometimes Emily and I are totally opposites. I basically NEVER whine, even if I have to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Even when I have to finish those million chores I never whine, though Emily whines as loud as sirens during the million-chore process. Very annoying sometimes. Fine, ALL the time, but I got used to it (hey Em, sorry, but you know it's true that you whine too much!).

"KIDS!!! You're going to get late! Oh, and Emily? Please don't drown your pancakes in maple syrup again. We're almost out of it since the Giant Syrup Accident." shouts our dad as he sees us coming down the stairs. Mmmm. Pancakes. Our dad always makes our favorite breakfast, and as you can guess, is pancakes.

He never really TOLD us, but we think it's obvious that he's trying to make us feel happy, or at least better so we wouldn't be so bummed that PATRICIA'S MOM stole our necklaces and that we have to find the necklaces ourselves. Mean, am I right? Also, I have a feeling that he is still kind of sad after our mom died from sorrow. But can we actually do that? Because if we do, then we are FAR from dying from sorrow, I think.

"So, girls, how was your sleep?" Dad asks.

"Bad," we say in unison.

"Well, I heard you have a big project at school!"

"True, but it would be WAY more fun if I wasn't paired with the dorkiest boy in the school, Ronald," Emily complains.

"Oh, c'mon honey, it can't be that bad!"

"Yes, it can. All he does is study!" I answer for Emily.

"Okay, well the bus is here, so you two better go! Have fun at school!" Dad says.

Dad thinks it's fun at school, and he is very right! Though because we are going to be going into 6th grade, the teachers are always like, the 6th grade teachers won't let you do this, whenever I see them doing it ALL THE TIME! It is SO BAD, but for Emily, it's complete torture. I'm not in the same class as she is, so I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I don't really understand her pain, and I'm the teacher's pet! Even though I hate waking up early, I study very hard! I have A's in everything! Emily does too, except a B in science and, ummm, a F in math. But we never talk about her math grade.

I bet you are reading this and thinking, Rose must be dorky, and Emily must be lazy. WRONG. We are both adventurous (which gets us in trouble WAY too much for my taste), and a little popular, though compared to Chloe, the most popular girl in 5th grade, we are nothing. Chloe is liked by almost EVERY boy, so of course she chose the most popular boy, Seth, as her boyfriend. Though, Emily and I think Seth and Chloe are planning to break up. Emily, her little Seth Fan Group, lots of other girls and some boys are super excited so they can FINALLY have a chance to be with their crush. Was I not very clear on that? Oh! Well, Seth is liked by most of the girls, and Emily, well, uhh. Emily has a crush on him. It's been hard trying to set up Emily and Seth, Emily gets super nervous around him, and Seth is always surrounded by his buddies, which is definitely NOT helping her.

Honestly, I think all the popular people are spoiled snobs that get way more attention than they should be getting, so I don't like ANY of the popular people. Emily knows that I don't really approve of her crush, but what can I do? Seth attracts most girls because he's "cute", and Emily, my poor sister, is swept away by the spell. SO CRUEL THAT JUST ONE CRUSH CAN MAKE HER MATH GRADES FALL DOWN TO AN F (partly because Seth is in her math class).

RIIIIINNNGGGGG!!! ANYWAYS! We're here, and school day has officially started. Emily and I hurriedly split up and sprint down opposite directions in the hallways to find our classrooms.
