Shades of purple swirled around me for 10 seconds before the portal dropped me. Right. On. Top. Of. Emily.
"Emily!" I cried out in joy.
"Rose!" she cried out back.
Suddenly, Emily hissed in pain.
"Could you get off of me now?" she asked through gritted teeth.
"Of course!" I answered as I slid off of her and onto the gold, sandy ground beside her.
"Aah. That's much better! I'm so sorry Seth and Patricia almost killed you." Emily said, straightening up.
"And I'm sorry Patricia sent you here, but you got out of the cave!"
"How do you know about the cave?"
"Well, ever since the near-death experience, I could see your thoughts and actions in my dreams. You probably can too!"
"Ohh!" I suddenly remembered my dream.
"What? What, 'Ohh!'?" asked Emily.
"Nothing, really. Just a dream." I answered.
"Just. A. Dream. Hmm?"
"Well, I'll just show you." I took out the pearl necklace from under my shirt and said, "A bunch of fairies, in my dream, gave me blessings. A man named Arnold Bergany gave me this necklace. He told me to give you a duplicate."
I pressed on the biggest pearl and a duplicate of the blessing necklace appeared on Emily's neck. The necklaces were exactly the same except for the fact that my pearl had my name and Emily's pearl had her name.
"Now we can communicate telepathically, and we can see each other in our dreams!" I exclaimed.
"Because of the pearl necklaces?"
"Yeah."
"That's weird. Plus, these necklaces are uncomfortable."
"Just deal with it—"
Suddenly, the world around us turned midnight black. We immediately stopped walking, as we couldn't even see things two feet away from us.
"Ummmmmm.................. Rose?" Emily stuttered.
"Yeah?" I answered.
"Like, so, ever since you fell down a hill, I've been scared of everything, so why is it so dark?"
Suddenly a blinding light shined in our eyes and we could finally see things clearly. I looked up and around to observe our surroundings and almost jumped in fright when I looked up to see giants the size of mountains everywhere.
We're going to be crushed!!!!! I thought. Ohh... wait. Hi Emily hehehe. I know you think my thoughts are confusing with all the logic... but look at yours!!! They're scattered and littered all over the place. Maybe be more organized? Anyways I'm getting off track...
I looked over to Emily, and she looked really queasy. Almost like she wanted to throw up, and dig a hole and then hide. On the other hand, it also looked like she was going to faint... AGAIN!!!!
I really didn't want to drag my twin sister's unconscious body around all day, so I decided to distract her... with maybe the question she dreaded the most.
"Do you still like Seth??" I inquired.
"Rose, I thought you were the one with the brains here! You do realize that if we are going to stay right here, in the middle of all the giants' path, we are going to get squished! And of course I don't like Seth, he nearly killed you!" she ranted.
"Ok! That's all I needed to know! Now let's get out of the giants' path!" I nodded happily.
Emily frantically shook her head and tried to find a spot with no giants, and seemed to find nothing.
Can't blame her. I can't find a spot either! I thought.
For some reason though, every giant stopped everything they were doing and made way for us. Fearing we would get crushed if we didn't hurry, we sprinted through the crowd, plugging our noses because of the disgusting smell radiating off of the giants.
We stopped at a tiny village, whose talking birds talked our ears off and probably the village thought it was a good idea to have talking birds take up the absence of the vast land the village was supposed to probably have.
Wait... TALKING BIRDS???? Emily thought.
Well... I guess we should get used to it Emily. I mean... we DID see giants already. I thought.
BUT!!! WHY IN THE WORLD ARE WE HERE?!?!?!
Ummm... I dunno. Patricia probably thought we would find nothing here.
"Hey Rose, why are we here in the first place??" Emily asked anyway, even though I just answered it.
"Ummmmmm, Em? How would I know why we're here? Anyways, I'm starving, and right now we need to make friends with some birds because otherwise we aren't gonna survive." I replied tiredly.
We carefully tiptoed into the village, but somehow the birds heard us. A huge flock of birds flew dangerously low towards us, causing Emily and I to duck and hit the ground.
Luckily, we managed to dodge the sharp claws, but still got a few scratches.
We bolted into a nearby small alleyway to collect our thoughts and escape the chaos.
"Phew, that was a close one!" Emily said while gasping for air.
Just then, the sound of shrill police sirens filled the air.
Well, you shouldn't have jinxed it. I thought.
How was I SUPPOSED TO KNOW? She screamed into our link.
A police car drove into the alleyway and surprisingly didn't get a scratch.
Emily and I backed up but soon hit a wall. Suddenly, the car door opened and a fourteen year boy walked out.
He's so handsome... I think I have another crush. *sigh* Another crush to add to my list with now 75 crushes. I won't tell Rose though. Yet. Emily thought.
WAIT EXCUSE ME?? Emily... we are in a life or death situation and you're thinking about boys!? I thought in frustration. Oh and keep on using the mindlink. We don't want HIM to know about what we're "talking" about.
What can I say? I can't help it. She fired back.
Don't bother hiding it. We are sharing thoughts now, remember?
"Why are you two girls here? No other humans should be living in the giants' world! It's too dangerous!" The boy exclaimed.
EXCUSE ME??? Is he dumb or what? So we're just "girls" now hm? And "no other human should be living in the giants' world" WOW... So he's also a human who probably thinks that girls are inferior. I bet he's very dumb. And what makes HIM so special that he can live here, but we can't even step a foot in? I mean... the giants seem nice to us.
Rose... give him a chance will ya?
Fine...
"Ummmmmm............ H-h-hi? W-we don't k-know how we g-got here. Umm......" Emily stuttered. Oh yup, she has a new crush now.
This is so embarrassing...
WHAT? Well you don't know the embarrassment I'm going through and you probably never will, seeing as you don't like boys and you have never had a crush before, Rose! No offense though.
"Hi!" I said with fake enthusiasm, which caused Emily to elbow me in the ribs.
