The next morning Peter limped into the dorm, bruised and defeated. I looked over at him rolling my eyes. Served him right. I stripped over by my bed, not caring if anyone saw, staying in my underwear, as if it were anything new. Fallon smiled over at me, seeing how open I was. I smiled back.
We practiced aim again, with guns. I absolutely hated it. Four had only looked at me as a glance of disappointment.
Screw him.
I thought to myself. I rolled my eyes and turned back to the target ignoring the pang of guilt in my stomach. We were back in the training room, I walked over to Fallon, Will, and Rick they all looked at me with pity. I began tying my hair up and raised an eyebrow.
"What are you guys..." I trailed off looking past them to the board. My blood ran cold.
I was going against Dillon.
She had literally beaten everyone, she even came close with Four, once.
"He's just getting you back from opening your mouth up from yesterday." Fallon whispered looking over at Eric who demonically smiled down at me. I swallowed and made my way over to the mat. Dillon cracked her knuckles, I could see a hint of pity in her eyes.
We had just had our blood so there was no reason for us to hold back. This was all that I was going to be focusing on, nothing else.
"Go." Eric said. Dillon was in my face in a blur, she threw a punch that I caught with a gasp, her other hand punched me right in the ribs. I groaned and kicked my foot into her stomach, she flew back pulling my foot with her. I heard myself yell as she flipped me over her and on my head. I winced and stared at the ceiling, dazed. My head was spinning, but I needed to focus. It was hard, especially since Dillon's foot continued to slam against my back. I some how got back up and we were grappling again. She got me in a choke hold and I tried stepping down on her foot, but he moved it each time. I put my hands into her short dark hair and yanked as hard as I could she finally yelled and I was released. I stumbled back, my nose dripping with blood and my lip cut. I was weak now, I knew I was going to loose but I was definitely going to get points for staying this long. I swung at her, effortlessly. Within seconds, her Steele like fist was crashing into my jaw, I felt my head spin, feeling my legs give out, and watched as Four walked out the door. I fell back against the mat and let my friends carry me off the mat."You did seriously good, I mean staying up and against Dillon that long," Fallon said as I pressed the ice pack to my lip. I could feel it slowly healing.
"Thanks," I mumbled. My eyes shifted over to Four who's eyes were now on 2 other initiates fighting. Fallon caught me and smiled looking away. I felt myself blush but played it off looking away.
"Yeah, right." She said, crossing her arms.
"What?" I asked looking at her. Her eyes locked with mine.
"You like him." She hissed.
"What!?" I said as she nodded. I rolled my eyes once more looking away, she squealed.
"Oh my gosh you so do!" She said.
"I don't even know, my emotions are all over the place and..." Fallon raised an eyebrow like she wasn't buying it. "Okay fine, maybe I think he's a little hot." I admitted.
"Only a little?" She raised the same eyebrow a little more than before.
"Just don't tell him, okay?" I said and she almost laughed.
"Tell him? The guy scares the hell out of me." She laughed and shook her head, "come on, let's go see where everyone else is." I hopped off the chair, set down the ice pack, and ran off with Fallon. The next day we were in the training room, practicing on either each other or the punching bag while others fought. I was at the punching bag and stopped momentarily to glance at my bruised knuckles. I shook it off and punched at the punching back again. After a minute or so I felt someone's presence behind me and turned back just as I was about to punch. Four stared down at me, muscles flexed, arms crossed, dark eyes staring me down. I found myself swinging at air and my face against the punching bag. I shook my head slightly hearing him scoff.
"You're weak." I heard him, which I ignored. "Your never going to win like that."
"It's not like you'd stay to watch anyways." I mumbled as I punched at the punching bag once more.
"It's not anything I'd want to watch," he whispered, before I could ask what he was speaking again, and he sounded annoyed once more. "Just keep tension here." He said firmly, his hands on my abdomen, a chill ran from his hand through my body and left my fingers tingling. My reflexes kicked in and before I knew it I had swatted his hands away. I bit my inside cheek to control myself.
"Okay," I whispered pushing his hands away and pushing my now sweaty hair back; I forgot to tie it up. "So I have a question for you." I could hear him cross his arms, his muscles tightening, once more.
"I'm sort of trying to focus." I said, but he didn't give up.
"So I have this, let's say student, and she sort of has a crush on me"- I felt my cheeks begin to redden as I walked over to the table and got some water -"but I don't know what to do."
"You know it's rude to eavesdrop." I said running a finger through my hair and looking away.
"That's sort of hard wh"-
"And just for your information," I finally looked at him, cutting him off, "I only said you were hot, I never said I had a crush on you: that, was all you." I was so livid I didn't want to look at him, how dare he make that assumption, and how dare he listen to what was a private conversation. Okay so maybe we were talking about him but that still didn't give him the right to listen. My thoughts were interrupted by Eric's voice.
"Okay everyone listen up! Tonight we're going to have a little... Let's say game night." Eric smirked as he chewed on his lip ring, a game night didn't sound very safe nor did that sound fun the way Eric said it. "Everyone will receive vests and will need to be on the tracks by 7:55." And with that, he left, and it was lunch time.
