It was not long before midnight when several knocks on the door made him wake up. He got up from the bed and crawled to the door, running his hands through his hair. He opened it to meet Thor there. Glancing around the room behind him, as if he were looking for someone.

"I'm alone," Loki growled, suddenly annoyed.

Reluctantly he opened the door wider and Thor entered without hesitation. Loki closed behind him.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"I want to apologize," he said, holding up his hands when Loki opened his mouth. "I know, I know. No empty apologies. I've been thinking."

Loki wanted to snort. As if he had that ability.

"About what?" he asked in his place as he sat down on the desk chair.

"About you. And about me. I think it's possible that I may have treated you a little badly."

Loki laughed. He couldn't help it. It was not a pleasant laugh.

"Please tell me this isn't your idea of an apology," he said between laughs.

Thor, who had sat up in bed, frowned and crossed his arms.

"Why are you always like this? I try to apologize, and you laugh at me."

"Because that's not an apology! You are not assuming your responsibility. You're assuming that you may have done things," Loki exclaimed, and he rubbed a hand over his face. "Look, I'd like to say it's okay, and go back to business as usual. But it's going to happen again, and then again, and again. I'm not your comic relief, Thor. I'm not the little brother who doesn't get hurt by your teasing. I'm a person, and I'm sick of you and your friends making fun of me."

"My friends? You mean Sif and the others?" he asked, frowning even more, and shook his head. "They love you, as if you were their own brother."

"Oh yeah?" Loki leaned back in his chair. "Then I imagine that they have asked you about me, about why I left. How am I."

Thor paused a few seconds, hesitating.

"I assumed they have been in contact with you."

Loki sighed.

"They don't have my contact since the last time I changed my number" he clarified.

That had been three years ago, after some numbers associated with Asgard Inc had been leaked and he'd started getting some pretty...shady messages. The Four Idiots never asked him for the new number, and he never offered it to them.

Thor pursed his lips.cans

"I didn't know."

"There are many things you don't know, Thor," he murmured in a tired tone, more tired than a 15-year-old boy should be. "And I don't hold a grudge against you for what you don't know. But I do for what you do. For what you have allowed."

"I'm trying!" Thor exclaimed, raising his voice.

Loki tensed and straightened up.

"You don't try hard enough. Now get out."

"No, wait, I need..."

"I don't mind. I need you to go. Come back when you really know why you're going to apologize."

"Brother..."

"Get out," he cut him off again, colder than before.

Thor opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something else, but he closed it again without making a sound. I shake my head and get up from the bed. Loki didn't look at him, lowering his head.
