Chapter 9 - Christmas

"Merry Christmas Lou!" Kelly said as he hugged her
"Merry Christmas Severide" Louella smiled
"Will you two quit hugging, breakfast is ready!" Shay yelled
"It's too early for yelling" Gabby said as she sat at the table
It was pretty early, shay made the whole house get up at 5am so they could all eat a breakfast together before they went on shift at 7am. The dardens did this tradition every year and shay wanted to keep it.
"Quit being such a Scrooge Dawson" Shay said as she sat the pancakes on the table
"What are those pancakes meant to be?" Kelly asked
"Santa's?" Shay said
"They don't look like Santa's" Louella smiled
"Maybe there was a reason you went into paramedicine?" Casey laughed
"Just shut up and eat the pancakes, okay?" Shay said
"So Lou...you inviting Anna to dinner?" Gabby asked causing Louella to nearly choke on her pancake
"Uhm" Louella said
"Casey told us" Kelly said
"We'll technically I told them, us aunties have a feeling for these things" Shay laughed
"But seriously you should invite her!" Shay smiled
"Yeah I wanna meet her" Gabby said
"I think she's having dinner with Jay and Hailey so she'll probably already be there" Louella said
"Great" Shay smiled

~Louella's POV~
"Hey baby girl" Darden said as he hugged her
"Dad?!" Louella asked
"Your dead?" She said
"I know I am but I just wanted to come back and see you again" Darden smiled as he sat at the edge of her bed
"I like your new room, how is Casey and Kelly? Are they as good a dad as I was?" He asked
"No one could ever replace you but yeah they're great. So are Dawson and shay, I don't know where I'd be without them. I miss you, I really do dad" Louella said as she smiled at her dad
"I miss you more kiddo, I tried so hard that day to fight...for you. I really tried and it kills me everyday that I didn't. But you've got to let go sweetheart" Darden said as he took her hands
"I'm not ready to let you go yet" Louella said
"I know kiddo but I'll always be with you, right here" Darden said as he pointed to his heart
"Now I've got to go, your going to be okay" Darden said as he began to walk towards the door
"Please not yet" Louella said
"I love you more than you know kiddo" Darden smiled
"I love you dad" Louella said as he walked out the door

Louella woke up, she had fallen back asleep after breakfast. She smiled at the thought of her dad before getting ready. She headed to the firehouse where dinner was in full swing
"Did you fall back asleep?" Casey asked
"Uhm yeah I did" Louella said
"She's over there" Casey smiled as he pointed towards Anna
"Your the best" Louella smiled
"Fancy seeing you here" Louella said
"Hey who could say no to free eggnog?" Anna smiled
"I told them about you, that's probably why we have an audience" Louella smiled as she turned around to see Gabby, Casey, Shay and Kelly smiling at them
"Hey they're just proud if you" Anna smiled
Just then it started to snow
"Come on!" Louella yelled as everyone tan outside
Everyone began building snowmen and throwing snowballs. The snow got heavier as the night went on.
"Merry Christmas Louella" Anna smiled
"Merry Christmas Anna" Louella smiled as she kissed her
