Chapter 12 - Making a difference

It was the next morning, Louella had just woken up, she walked into the kitchen to see Kelly stood with a beer in his hand.
"I think at this point you've drank more than an alcoholic" Louella muttered
"Leave it out lou" Kelly said as he took a sip of his beer
"You look like you haven't showered in days, when was the last time you showered?" Louella asked
"If I wanted life advice from a 17 year old, I'd ask for it" Kelly said as he slurred his words
"Noted" Louella said as she walked out

It was a few hours later, Louella had just finished a few hours worth of homework when she head a bang. She ran out of her room
"Kelly?" She yelled
Louella ran out to see Kelly lying in the kitchen with vomit pouring out his mouth, she ran over to him
"Kelly!" She yelled as she rolled him onto his side to prevent him from chocking on his vomit
Louella's eyes were then drawn to the ku then counter to where she saw a packet of white pills.
"Oh Kelly" Louella muttered as she began to call 911
Within 5 minutes an ambulance was dispatched and the paramedics began to work on Kelly. Louella took a step back until she heard the door open. Casey and Dawson ran in
"What happened?" Casey asked
"He Uhm...overdosed" Louella said as she looked at Casey
"Overdosed?" Dawson asked
"They're was white pills on the counter, I thought it was something to do with his drinking but..." Louella trailed off
"Don't worry, he's going to be okay" Dawson said as she placed a hand on Louella's shoulder

It was the next day, Kelly had gotten admitted and Louella wouldn't leave the hospital until she knew he was okay. Kelly had been drifting in and out of consciousness all night.
"What happened?" Kelly asked
"You overdosed" Casey said bluntly
"It feels like I've been hit by a bus" Kelly said
"In front of lou, you overdosed in front of Louella. She found on in the floor and worked on you until the paramedics came" Casey said
"No, I didn't mean for it to happen like that" Kelly muttered
"Then how did you mean for it to happen? Hope Lou didn't hear you? Have her find you dead on the floor?!" Casey yelled
"No..." Kelly trailed off
"She has lost 2 of the most important people in her life in the past 2 years! She can't loose another one Kelly!" Casey yelled as he walked out.

Louella found the courage to walk in to see Kelly. He looked up at her
"Lou" Kelly said
"Please don't die" Louella asked
"I'm not going too, I promise" Kelly said as he smiled
"Please don't, I can't see you like that again. I lifted the pills, Uhm I threw them out. I hope you don't mind but I can't loose you alongside shay" Louella said
"I'm sorry you had too see my like that lou. I really am. I don't know what I was thinking" Kelly said
"I'm signing up to join the CFD" Louella said
"What?" Kelly said
"I want to make a difference, like shay did. Like you, Casey and Gabby do everyday. I want to save people, like no one did for shay" Louella said
"I'll help with your application. Put in a good word" Kelly smiled
"Thanks Kelly" Louella smiled as she hugged him
"I love you" Kelly muttered
"I love you too" Louella smiled
