Elijah Mikaelson

Flashback to 1589

"Good Morning, Kol," She says, breezing into the room. As always, she was carefree, she was full of light.

"Please, for the love of god, put us all out of our misery and just court her already," Rebekah says, interrupting my thoughts. Thankfully, she whispers but I'm still not sure if Morrigan heard it or not.

"What are you talking about?" I say, pouring myself water from the jug on the table.

"You stare at her constantly. You have been doing that since before she turned."

"Rebekah, I assure you, you have gone mad," I say calmly and she just sighs.

"That's nice to hear." She says but starts up once again. "It's painful to watch, and Nik agrees with me."

"Does he now?" I say, trying to get her to stop.

"What do I agree on, sister?" Niklaus says as he walks into the room, sitting opposite me.

"That Elijah should put us out of our misery and-"

"If anyone's being put out of their misery, it should be me," Morrigan says, sitting next to Niklaus.

"Whatever for?" Rebekah asks.

"The boy Thomas? In town?" She says, and Rebekah looks like she understands, but Kol, who sat down seconds prior, Niklaus or I do not. "There's this boy in town, he's barely eighteen, but is convinced he's going to marry me."

"I got him away," my sister starts. "But Morrigan is soft."

"I'm not soft, I just don't think threatening to slaughter his family is proactive."

"And letting him harass you the second you step out of the house is?" Rebekah rebuts and Morrigan rolls her eyes. "I think if you don't want to threaten him, just tell him you already have a husband."

"In case you haven't noticed, sister, but she doesn't have a husband." Kol points out.

"As annoying as your comments are, Kol, you are right. Where's my husband when he asks?" Her eyes suddenly light up as if she had the best idea in the world. "Could one of you escort me around for the day? Just so he leaves me be?"

"Elijah can!" Rebekah says quickly. Too quickly, but Morrigan looks at me hopefully, and I could not say no to her if I tried.

"Of course, I can," I say and she nods.

"Thank you."

Hours later, she called me.

"Elijah? Where are you?"

"I'm right here," I say from directly behind her. She jumps and turns around, startled.

"Elijah Mikaelson. That is not funny!" She says, lightly hitting my arm. "You can't keep doing that, it's bad for such a young thing like me." She says jokingly.

"You are over a hundred and sixty," I state and she crosses her arms.

"Mr Mikaelson, you wouldn't be calling a lady old, would you?"

"Apologies, Ms Brooks. Whatever can I do to make it up to you?" I say, laughing genuinely for the first time in a while.

"Well, to start you can flaunt the fact that I'm your wife for the day. We really need to rub it in." She says, holding out her hand for me to take. I oblige, and she drags me out the massive door.
