Morrigan Brooks

Let me list the ways I thought I would be spending my summer.

1- On a beach somewhere, maybe Cabo, maybe Madrid.

2- Maybe helping the Mystic Falls gang if they managed to ensnare me further

3- Finding and dating a summer fling.

Notice how the words hiking and Smoky Mountains and especially werewolf hunting don't feature?

I had had multiple shitty nights of sleep in a row due to these ominous nightmares I had been having, and only in the most recent one did I have any indication of what they were about.

An enemy I thought I had long since buried in quite a shallow and half-assed grave.

Klaus was still purposefully getting on Stefan's nerves, which slowly got on my nerves, though I tried to stay neutral so I could keep the peacekeeper role.

"Are you okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus says, taunting Stefan.

"I'm fine." He says curtly.

"You sure about that?" Klaus says, keeping it going. "You know we've been going for quite some time now. Do you need some water? Or a little sit-down?"

"You know I get that we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chit-chat, that would be great," Stefan says, whipping his head around, probably looking for the pack.

"So much brooding," Klaus says and I resist the urge to mutter 'pot kettle'. "Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend."

"Maybe it's because I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer."

"Well thanks to our pal Ray, we've found ourselves a pack," Klaus says. I heard them before I saw them. Maybe a dozen werewolves all bustling around tents and campfires.

Stefan walks in front of us and unceremoniously dumps Ray on the ground for them to see.

"Oh my god, Ray!" One girl says, running towards him when she realised who it was. "Who are you?" She asks Stefan, but that's when Klaus steps up.

"The important question is who am I? Please, forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus."

I find a tree stump that I can sit on since my shoes were killing me, and I was even wearing bloody converse sneakers.

"You're the hybrid." The girl says, doing nothing but boosting his ego.

"You've heard of me." He says and pauses for dramatic effect. "Fantastic."

Klaus comes over to me and sits on my tree stump, thankfully not making me move over.

Stefan follows his lead and Klaus stays silent for a while, enjoying the apprehension and suspense in the air thanks to him.

"Fascinating, actually. A werewolf that is not beholden by the moon. A vampire that doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid."

"Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic." I say when Ray wakes up, gasping for air and Klaus leans forward.

"What's happening to me?" He asks, still on the floor.

"Mor?" Klaus says, allowing me to have a bit of fun. I stand up and assess the group before me.

"Any of you not wolf out? Any humans? Boyfriend, girlfriend along for the ride? Come on, or he'll die a slow and very painful death. He needs blood."

"It doesn't take much. Just a sip." Klaus chimes in.

I scan the party before I land on blue eyes. "You," I say, holding out my hand and making him fly in my direction. He stops before me and I grab his wrist, rip into his artery and shove it in Ray's face.
