a while passed and I assumed that everyone was out of the house.

I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling. I picked up my phone and scrolled endlessly on Instagram until a message popped up.

-New message-
Adam
Do you wanna meet me at the beach? I'll be there in 10.

I smiled. "Definitely, I'll be there soon." I jumped up and started getting ready.

I put on one of belly's  bikinis, a pair of denim shorts, and a unbuttoned shirt over the top.

Once I finished getting ready and I headed down stairs towards the front door and stopped in front of the mirror just to make sure I looked okay, when someone spoke.

"Where are you going?" it was Conrad. Turns out he didn't leave. He had been here the whole time.

"The beach, why do you care?" I asked.

"You're not supposed to leave. You'll get in trouble." He said walking towards me.

"Who are you? my mom?" I scoffed.

He looked at me up and down, concentrating on my body.

"I know you aren't going alone. Who are you going with?" He look at me with a serious look.

"I'm going with Adam. Now, I'm gonna be late if you keep interrogating me." I reached towards the door to open it but he walked in front blocking my way out.

"Oh my God Conrad, just let me go." I said pushing him out of the way.

"He's not a good guy. He's a player. Don't go." He said.

"What are you talking about? Have you met yourself Conrad? Fucking hypocrite." I scoffed.

He looked down as he moved off the door. I quickly walked out and slammed it. Running down the steps towards the beach.

I walked down the beach until I saw Adam standing and waiting.

"Hey I'm sorry I'm late, today has been chaotic." I apologized.

"No no don't worry about it." He reassured. "How was dress shopping?"

I quickly came up with a lie, "oh, it was good. she found what she wanted."

"cool."

We sat and talked for a little, he talked about school and sports. He seemed super interested in our conversation, unlike how Conrad was this summer.

Before I knew it we were making out. He kissed me like he was desperate, like he hadn't kissed anyone in ages. Soon we split apart and laughed.

"Hey, it's getting late and I have early practice. Do you want me to take you home?" He asked, helping me up from the sand.

"Oh, no it's okay. The house isn't far from here." I said.

"Okay." He said turning around. He walked to his car and got it, driving away almost immediately.

I stood there in awe. I didn't know if I should have felt happy that I just made out with one of the most popular guys in cousins, or if I should have been mad that he left so early.

i started to walk back home and contemplate what just happened, and what i was gonna say if my mom or susannah caught me coming back in.
———————————————————————————
I carefully opened the door and stepped in. I very slowly shut the door and turned around trying not to make any noise.

I looked up and saw Conrad standing there, almost like he had been waiting for me to get home.

"God, I thought you were my mom! Don't do that!" I said frightened.

"How was your little date?" He asked smirking.

"It was great, thank you." I said trying to walk past him.

"What you guys do," he questioned, "was he any good?"

I looked at him in disgust, "fuck you conrad. Why don't you go make out with Nicole some more? I'm sure that would put you in a better mood." I said.

I turned back towards the stairs and started walking away. Who does he think he is, Being so concerned about me hooking up with Adam?

He scoffed. "Yeah, and why don't you go look in the mirror some more."

I stood, frozen. My heart dropped to my stomach. I looked down embarrassed.

I looked back at him, the mood changed. and he immediately looked sorry. We both knew that he shouldn't have said that.

I looked at him, up and down in complete shock. I felt the need to say something.

"What makes you think you have a say in my love life. You don't know me anymore, so stop trying to act like you know what's best for me." I spat.

He just stood and stared at me with a blank expression.

I turned back and walked up the stairs. Walking in to my room, I shut the door and slid down against the door onto my butt.

Out of all people, Conrad was the last person to say something like that. Even after all that I've been through, he still said it.
