Riley's POV💫One week.
One week has passed since that fateful day, and I feel so weak. His beautiful green eyes, his tousled dark hair, his chiseled jaw, his perfect smile, and his defined body. He is on my mind constantly and I can't do anything about it. My heart beat speeds up just thinking about him.
It has gotten so bad that I am losing sleep. I stay up thinking about him. He stays stuck on my mind and I can't sleep. The image of him in my head keeps me awake at night. Questions roam through my head, keeping me from sleep.
What is he doing right now? Is he thinking about me? Is this separation effecting him as much as it's effecting me?
I groan softly as I sip from another large mug of strong coffee. I'm trying not to fall asleep as I sit at my desk. I try to clear my mind but the image of him refuses to leave. Everything reminds me of him, somehow. Its aggravating because everywhere I look, I see him.
The sight of a single tree has me swooning at the thought of him. The trees reminded me of his musky, woodsy scent. Hell, even the grass reminded me of his eyes. Simple darkness reminded me of his midnight black hair.
I'm snapped out of my little day dream by someone calling my name. I groggily look up to see one of the other nurses leaning against my desk. She smiles at me and I return the gesture. I sit up straighter in my chair and clear my throat before speaking.
"Good morning Breena. What do you need?" I ask politely and she sits down in a chair on the other side of the desk.
"I just wanted to talk. You seemed lonely in here, and I have already finished my rounds." She speaks in a cheery tone and it makes me want to gag.
"Yes, of course. Anything specific you want to talk about?" I ask, leaning back in my chair to get comfortable. She nods her head wildly.
"Have you been watching our news channel lately?" She asks with a worried expression, I furrow my eyebrows and give her a confused look before shaking my head.
"You don't know about what's going on with the Silver Blood Pack?" She asks in disbelief and my heart drops. I quickly shake my head, wanting information.
"That pack is the talk of every pack around! Especially the Alpha." My blood ran cold at her statement. Did my mate tell the Alpha about me? "They have been breaching packs and searching through everything! They torn through houses, basements, safe houses. But the odd thing is, they haven't laid a hand on anyone. The Alpha even spoke on the news! You'll have to watch it later." She says shaking her head in disbelief. I nod slightly, still shell shocked.
"If he came through here, I'd let him search me. That Alpha is sex-ay." She says with dreamy eyes and I scoff.
A groggy voice called over the intercom and I shot up from my seat. "Doctor Riley, we have a medical emergency. Please report to room 384."
I run through the corridor and into the correct room. There, laying on the bed, is a man with a large laceration over his chest and stomach. He is bleeding profusely and I know he will die quickly without help. Normal medical supplies won't cut it. I have a healing power, but I can't use it in front of others or else they will know.
But I can't just let the man die.
I quickly shut and lock the door so no one else can come in. I hear loud scream sand banging on the other side of the door but I ignore it and focus on the patient. I put my hands over the long, deep cut. Section by section, I chant soft words and use as much power as possible to heal the man.
