5000 Years Earlier
"You can't do this!" I yell as he gets ready to release the genetic mutation.
"Oh but I can and I will, you see this will save us. This will create a better tomorrow," My former partner tells me.
The chains that restrain me become harder to fight. He holds the vial in his hand. The airborne genetic mutation is all this world needs to end, but he doesn't understand that... they don't understand that.
"You really shouldn't have made the trial vial, the government loved it. They thought it was time to unleash the genetic mutation to cleanse the world. When this is over we will live like kings, all the pain we caused would never be for nothing," His eyes hold something that I thought a scientist would never have in their eyes, lifeless.
I watch the vial, the air inside the vial holds the one thing you can't see. He smiles at me once more, before his fingers fall, the vial falling.
The moment the vial shatters I feel it, the mutation is causing my body to fight itself, to destroy the things we need to survive. My partner is still smiling as I see his skin moving as if worms were under it.
I wish I could say this was the end but the end will never come as long as the mutation is alive and thriving.
