I overlook my kingdom

I overlook my kingdom. It's been two weeks since I killed the king of the desert land and no retaliation from the other kingdoms.

Andromeda stands next to my throne, after I killed my parents I had the thrones moved to the ceremony room. When the next new light has its time and the ceremony comes to an end, I want my child to sit on the throne and overlook the kingdom that will be theirs.

"We did the right thing to kill the king," Andromeda informs before pulling a vial out of her armor.

"One of our spies brought this back right before we conquered the desert land. One of our loyal people has decided to take the poison. He died last night, the pale skin and the white eyes, the same as your mother before she died... My queen, desert land has evolved the poison, the new symptoms we have found were disturbing..."

The omen of death is intrigued and so am I.

"Continue," She looks at me before signaling a few of the royal guards.

The royal guards may protect me in the castle but the army protects me outside of our territory. The army is loyal to me but I have noticed the way they obey Andromeda. Andromeda is no threat but if I were to kill her my army would be less likely to fight for me resulting in me having to slaughter them and train new warriors.

The ceremony doors are opened, the royal guards have mesh gloves covering their hands as they bring in a decomposing corpse. The omen of death is smiling.

"We have discovered two new symptoms when they are living and one when they have died. When they are dead their skin starts to become acid-like causing a few of our men to be sent to the healer. The other symptom that happens when they are alive... They go insane, they eat their own flesh then start yelling that there is something crawling on them when there is nothing there," I start to get close to the body before Andromeda pulls me back.

"The symptom after death... their body is at accelerating decomposition but if you would notice the stomach is intact. When we inspected it, a pore-like opening shot out green goo resulting in one of our warriors dying," The omen of death has sadistic thoughts running through her head, she is circling the body, I can feel her with every step she takes.

"Get this damn body out of here! Wrap the body tightly and place it with the other dead. If our warriors that are at the healers do not get better by the time we release the dead we kill them and they get released with them!" I sit back in my chair, Andromeda quick to dismiss the guards before returning to my side.

"My queen, nightfall is almost here, our warriors will have no time to recover," Andromeda knows better, but I suspect the warriors that are going to die tonight were trained under her.

"Andromeda I respect you, but if you ever question or doubt my decisions again we will fight. And when we fight I will walk out covered in your blood," She is surrounding me, she is breathing down my neck as I look at Andromeda warning her with my eyes.

The sun has fallen and the night has risen. My people are in a large circle, Andromeda, the healers, and I stand in the middle with the dead. The healers have crushed up the eyes of the white ones so the dead can be released.

"In the end, we are one, death is not the end, but the start of something new.," I tell the people of the forest land before the healers chant the words only they know.

The goo that came from the eyes of the white ones is poured into the mouths of the dead. The warrior that sacrificed his life is the last to be released.

We burn the bodies, the fire being contained to the circle. I turn away letting my people mourn the ones that we have lost.

"My queen, one of our spies is back from the ice land, they have news for you," Andromeda whispers in my ear before I take a seat on the throne.

"Let them pass," The royal guards obey and let one of my spies pass.

Her hair is shorter than when I sent her, she has gained weight. In order to gain the trust of the ice land we had her starved so they would pity her and think we banished her.

"My queen!" She bows before standing up again with frantic eyes.

"They figured out who I was but I have some information that can kill all of us! The ice land is planning to launch a war on the forest land... They have been planning and training since you took over the desert kingdom, once they conquer our kingdom they plan to conquer the swamp land. After that their army will be able to take over the other kingdoms," The spy is frantic with her words as she sweats.

"Thank you, but you are a traitor!" I yell, the royal guards restrain my spy.

"My queen, how do you know?" Andromeda asks beside me, she is not doubtful she just wants to know how I could possibly know that.

"The ice land is a ruthless kingdom... They wouldn't have let go a spy with that kind of information, they would publicly execute you. So tell me, traitor, am I right?" The spy nods causing me to draw my sword.

"You do not deserve the words before we kill, you are a traitor and you will die a traitor," I tell her before slicing her head off.

The blood splatters on my face. The omen of death is circling me now, breathing in the scent of death. The body slumps to the ground, the head still holds a look of horror in her eyes.

"Clean this damn mess up, tonight we head to the swampland. Bring only our best warriors, we do no harm! Andromeda go get your warriors ready." Andromeda nods before leaving me alone with the omen of death.
