After ordering in some pizza and waiting for that Ransom guy to arrive, the pizzas get here. "His funeral if he has a cold pizza" Sierra sighs, sitting down at the dinner table. Suddenly, the doorbell finally rings. "I'm sure he didn't do that on purpose" I silently add, and Sierra rolls her eyes while James opens the door.

I can hear James talking to that guy named Ransom, but they're not here yet. "I really don't care" I hear again, coming closer now. I slightly frown at that sentence, and turn around once James and the other guy walk in. "Ransom, meet Sierra's sister and maid of honor, Amelia-Rose" James says, taking the handsome, tall guy to me.

"It's nice to meet you, Ransom. You're the best man, right?" I ask, sticking out my hand towards him. He just looks at me from head to toe once, takes a deep breath like he wants to say something, but nods his head and walks away instead. "Okay..." I silently whisper to myself, and James lifts his shoulders.

"Hugh, you're late" Sierra says, looking up at Ransom before he sits down. "Oh, really?" he sarcastically asks in reply, making her roll her eyes again. Without saying anything else, Ransom just grabs a slice of pizza and takes a bite. "Hm, good pizza" he adds, talking with his mouth full of pepperoni pizza.

Sierra stares at him with the most annoyed look on her face, but Ransom doesn't bother to look back until she lets out a loud sigh. "Is there anything you wanna say?" he asks, looking back at her now while James and I also sit down. I'm feeling pretty awkward right now, this man probably doesn't even want me to sit next to him.

"Shut up and eat the pizza, Hugh. Don't forget to thank the girl who got it for you, if you know how to even thank someone" Sierra replies to him, and he roughly drops the rest of his pizza on the plate. "Don't, call, me, that" Ransom loudly adds, clenching his jaw while she just raises her eyebrows.

She crosses her arms and sits back in her chair, before letting out another sigh. "I thought that was your name, Hugh" she exclaims, clearly trying to make him mad as he clenches his jaw again. "You're just trying to be a bitch now, right? Because it's working, you're being a fucking stuck up bitch and-" Ransom tries to reply, but James interrupts him.

"Alright, okay, stop it and eat the damn pizza" he loudly says, almost shouting which shuts the both of them up. "So um... At what time do we have to be here?" I ask, looking at Sierra and James both. "Can you be here at 9am?" Sierra asks, so I nod my head. We talk about the wedding a little while we eat, until we're all done.

"Look, Ransom... I know you don't like me, and you know I don't like you but please, please, please don't ruin this for me. Please, it's my wedding, and I know you want to just not show up but please, don't ruin this and be there for your best friend" Sierra says before we all stand up, and Ransom let's out a sigh.

"I'm not gonna ruin it, I know it's your 'big day', I'll be there. Don't worry, you'll barely see me" he replies, but she shakes her head. "Ransom, I need you to promise me. I need you to promise me that you're not gonna ruin it, I need you to say it. Promise me, that you're not gonna ruin it" Sierra adds, making me frown.

It must be a terrible feeling when someone doesn't trust you in your word, I think I can even see it in his eyes. He doesn't like this, and it's pretty unfair if I'm being honest. "He'll be there, and he's not gonna ruin it. He already said that, you should just believe him and trust him on this" I quickly say, making them all look at me.

"What?" I silently ask, almost whispering as Ransom starts frowning. "Nothing, you're just a ball of sunshine" James chuckles, and Sierra laughs with him. "Alright then, I'll see you at 9am" Ransom sighs again, walking towards the door and putting on his coat. "Oh, no" I say, walking up to him and grabbing the back of his coat before he can leave the house.

He looks back, and stares right into my eyes while his jaw clenches. "We're doing the dishes first" I say, loud and clear for him to hear it. He's not gonna let this almost-married couple do our dishes, that's not happening. I can feel the tension building up as he keeps looking right into my eyes, but I'm not backing off.

Sierra and James stare at us too, like something bad is about to happen, until Ransom looks at my lips for a split second before looking back into my eyes. "Yes, ma'am" he finally replies, followed by a silent sigh. "Good, come with me" I add, so he slowly nods his head, takes off his coat and walks to the kitchen with me.

"What just happened?" I hear Sierra whisper, but Ransom and I both choose to ignore that. I hand over a dish towel, and start washing our dishes. Every time I clean a plate or a cup, I hand it over for Ransom to dry. "Hey um, can I ask you something?" I ask after another moment of silence, making him look up.

"Sure" he silently let's out, so I give him a smile. "Well um... Sierra called you 'Hugh' earlier, what was that about?" I ask, looking back at the last plate I'm washing. "It's uh... It's my first name" he replies while I hand over that last plate, so I slowly nod my head and try to understand it.

I think he noticed the fact that I'm getting a little confused, so he takes a small breath and puts the plate down to look at me. "I don't like my first name, so I go by my second. What's your name again?" Ransom asks, raising his eyebrows a little, but not even giving me a little smile.

"Amelia, I'm Sierra's sister" I reply, smiling kindly at him as he nods his head. "Sierra's sister, wow. I'm sorry about that, must be tough" he sighs, making me laugh. "She's alright, but she probably didn't show you her sweet side just yet, huh?" I giggle, and he let's out a silent sigh.

"Your sister doesn't like me so much, I wouldn't expect you to do the opposite" he tells, putting the towel down and washing his hands before walking out the kitchen. "Hey, wait" I add, causing him to stop walking. He turns around to face me again, nods his head once and raises his eyebrows.

"I never said I don't like you, and I'm sure you're not as bad as they made it seem" I say, and he looks at his feet for a second. "I guess you'll have to find that out then, little princess" he replies, before walking away again. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in, and slowly nod my head. This guy is interesting, very interesting...

Ransom leaves the house after saying a quick goodbye to Sierra and James, and I step into the living room again. I say goodbye to them as well, make my way outside and drive back home. I'm really excited for this wedding, it's gonna be perfect and absolutely beautiful.

I finally arrive to my own house again, get everything I need for tomorrow ready and lay down in bed after putting on my pajamas. For some reason, I can't help but wonder what Ransom would look like with a smile. I know that he never smiles, but I still wonder.
