My POV

Nat, Steve, and I hid in a spare hospital room. I watched the doors, ready if anyone tried to come in.

"I know who killed Fury." She looked at me, worried. "The man I believe who did it was always talked about as a legend, but she and I were there when it happened back in 2009."

"Soldat? Are you sure?" I asked, heartbroken. Steve looked at me, confused, before I cleared my throat.

"Through my time in Hydra, I met and fell in love with the Winter Soldier, my Soldat, and then they turned the tables on us. 'Keep working and we won't hurt the other', they kept telling us. Then, on the mission in Iran, your friend here made me realize I didn't have to listen to them anymore. I left him there though...who knows what they did to him in retaliation. Especially if they thought I was dead, or hell...knew I was alive." I took a deep breath.

As we went to a local mall to try to read the thumb drive, I offered to stand outside the store while they went inside, keeping an eye out for the people we were running from. Hydra, in S.H.I.E.L.D. who would have guessed. I whistled once I saw Rumlow and threw my hood up as the three of us worked our way outside slowly and carefully. After stealing a car, we hit the road towards New Jersey. Steve already found out about Rumlow, but when I pointed out Peirce he nodded, already suspecting him.

"So all of S.H.I.E.L.D is compromised. It is just the three of us," Steve stated as we pulled up to an abandoned military base. The one that Steve went to.

"Seems that way." I said. We quickly discovered the underground S.H.I.E.L.D. location, finding a ton of computers and a face appeared on the screen.

"Shall we play a game?" Nat asked. I chuckled, understanding the reference. Turning on a computer, a man came on the window and analyzed us, creeping me out.

"Ah, Artemis. (L/N), Elizabeth. Born 1925. I remember you, darling, you were one of my biggest successes with altered serums." The man on the screen stated, and I glared looking at him. Nat looked around, unsure, "A recording?" I shook my head. This was no recording, but Zola somehow living in the system.

"You know this man?" Nat looked at Steve as he nodded.

"Arnim Zola worked for the Red Skull. He was a German scientist."

"Don't look so scared, Schatz. I gave you a wonderful gift." Zola laughed on the screen as I stepped forward, seething.

"This is no Gift. You son of a bitch." Zola was continuing to taunt Steve and Nat, evading their questions. Zola then gave a history lesson on Hydra.

"Accidents will happen." Zola laughed, showcasing Steve and Natasha all of mine and Soldat's missions, including a newspaper of Howard Stark. Oh Soldat... I looked away, ashamed seeing the things we did. I wasn't brainwashed like my Soldat. I was never wiped. I heard Steve punch the screen as I stared at the floor, going into a panic frenzy, shaking as I looked at my hands. The screams. The Blood. I felt a hand on me as I looked up, tears running down my face I saw Steve look at me before pulling me into a hug.

"What's on the flash drive?" Steve asked as Zola came on a different monitor.

"Project insight. It required insight, so I wrote an algorithm."

"What kind of algorithm. What will it do?" Nat asked.

"It's fascinating what it does. Unfortunately, you will be too dead to hear it. It's a pity, Schatz, you joined the wrong side."
