"Yeah......" I looked at Mosi on the bed next to me. He got his room here, but he always found his way in mines.
"Mr. Stryer.....?" Jackson's voice came on the other end, I looked at the time.
3:19 am.....
"Wassup.....? Ain't nobody posed to be coming here....." I sat up on the bed and pulled the blanket higher on my nephew, his ass could sleep like the dead.
"I know......but.....NJPD is here and they're requesting to speak with you.....immediately....." He stuttered. Jackson was a chill ass concierge that took his job seriously, so hearing the unease in his voice had me alert.....especially at this time of morning.
"Send them up......" The fuck the police coming here for......? I hung up and checked on Mosi again and called my brother.
"You have reached the mailbox of Bashir Stryer. Please-" I hung up. The shit is weird, cuz my brother always picks up his phone....it don't matter the time, especially if Mosi ain't home. I walked out my room, leaving the door open in case Mosi wakes up and I called his mom.
"You have reached the mailbox of Monice Stryer. Please-"
The fuck.....? Now I was getting nervous. I called Malikah, she's Nicey best friend and they're always talking.
"Wassup, Q......?" She picked up her phone, still sleep.
"Sorry.....you heard from Nicey.....?" I looked out the peephole and no one was out in the hall yet.
"I went shopping with her and she went home around 6......? Why, what's wrong.....? Bae......" Her voice sounded more alert and I can hear Kof groaning in his sleep.
"Nah......NJPD is coming up and I dunno why. I tried calling B and Nicey, they not picking up....." I started pacing back and forth and put the call on speaker, to send my brother a message.

Something didn't feel right andI felt the need to hear one of them to put me at ease."Bae.....wake up....." Malikah said away from the phone.
