The next morning (y/n) woke up on the floor of Dustin's room, a makeshift bed of pillows and blankets between her and the rug covered floor. After the events of last night, finding out Will was gone, like gone for good, Dustin had cried most of the night, with (y/n) by his side. (y/n) shed a fair amount of tears, she had loved Will, and cared for him like he was another brother, but she needed to keep strong for Dustin, and for the rest of the party. She was headed off to school, no matter how much she or Dustin didn't want her to.

Sitting in Science, (y/n) stared blankly at her paper. How the hell was she supposed to think about anything besides Will right now? No matter how hard she tried to focus on the questions in front of her she couldn't. She longed to be with Dustin and the party right now, she felt she always needed to be there with them, and to care for them.

No matter how many times she rolled her eyes at the boys calling her a babysitter, she secretly knew it was true. She would protect these kids with her life, and do anything for them.

"(y/n) Henderson?" a lady asked, walking into the classroom, "If you'll come with me please?"

(y/n) snapped her head up and gathered her stuff, leaving her classroom, once again. The lady lead her to the cafeteria where Mrs. Wheeler and Nancy were sitting.

"Henderson," Officer Callahan called, "take a seat."

(y/n) slid into the seat next to Nancy, and sent her a questioning glance.

"This argument you and Barbara had?" Powell asked Nancy, "What exactly was it about?"

"It wasn't really an argument," Nancy says looking over to (y/n), "Barb wanted to leave with (y/n), I didn't so, I told her to just go home."

"Is this true Miss. Henderson?" Callahan asks, looking pointedly at (y/n).

"Uh, yeah. I was heading home and Barb didn't want to leave without Nancy," (y/n) says, "that pretty much sums it up."

Callahan and Powell nodded, "Then what happened, starting with Miss. Henderson."

"Well Nancy went upstairs while I asked Barb if she wanted to leave with me, she said she was going to wait for Nancy, so I just left and walked home."

The officers nodded once again, "What about you Miss. Wheeler?"

"Well as (y/n) said, I went upstairs to put on some dry clothes."

"And the next day, you went back and saw a bear, you're thinking?" Powell questioned.

(y/n) gave Nancy a curious glance, "I don't know what it was, but, I think, I think maybe it took Barb." (y/n)'s eyes widened, "you need to check behind Steve's house-"

"We did." Callahan cut off. "There's nothing there. There's no sign of a bear."

"And no car." Powell added in.

"What?"

"Look, we figured that Barbara came back last night, and then took off, went somewhere else," Callahan explained.

"Has she ever talked to either of you about running off? Leaving town, maybe."

"No," (y/n) and Nancy chorused.

"Barb isn't the type to do that," (y/n) tried to explain.

"Yeah, she wouldn't ever do that." Nancy agreed.

"She wasn't maybe upset about the fact that you were spending time with this boy?" Powell asks, "Steve Harrington?"

(y/n) rolled her eyes at the mention of his name as Nancy answered, "What? No!"
