The night was in readiness for embracing the world in a blanket of black velvet, beaded with myriads of tiny pearls that dotted the twilit sky for as far as one could see. Little bands of stratus clouds gently hovered in the sky, a few moving to rest on the periphery of the eclipsed moon as the breeze picked up speed every so often, putting on display an unintended transition similar to that of canary yellow dandelions changing to white puffballs full of seeds that develop feathery filaments to blow with the wind and travel to faraway places.

Jungkook was lying down in the garden of his new house, bare feet digging in the grassy ground, heart heavy with an unshakeable yearning and hands crossed behind his head for support to alleviate the ache thundering inside his skull.

Memories from the past clash with insoluble dilemmas of the present, oiling the wheels of the conflict that soared from being a part of Jungkook's life to becoming his entire life without sparing him even a few flashes of deviation.

In spite of it all, Jungkook never wonders about things being different had they unfolded slowly, giving him time to cope up with everything because he knows no length of time would have had been able to suffice for him to prepare for all that he had to go through. Some things are better off being experienced as a forced march rather than a slow jog. It's better to rip the bandaid right away instead of slowly doing it and prolonging the sting and pain.

As he gazes at the same moon he had fallen in love with about twenty years ago, he feels a shift in it's aura. It's not the same sense of serenity that he has been familiar to and found a harbour in since the day he lost his mother, but instead it's a harrowing feeling, one that makes goosebumps rise onto his skin and his tongue turn dry.

He blames the cold breeze sailing every now and then for being the reason behind it despite his intuition telling him otherwise but he quelled the distressing resonance. The unsettling feeling might possibly be a result of the change in the moon's position, he thinks. After all the super blood moon is a special moon for werewolves where they get the chance to get closer to the moon goddess.

For their kind, the lunar eclipse is an event that is considered to be of massive impact. It would bring not always what one would want but a change that was necessary to be brought. It has been told by their forefathers and has been passed on for generations that the lunar eclipse brings a calculated series of developments in their lives. As the moon emits an umber tone, it gives them all a view of reality with no effulgence to guide them through, a chance to truly become conscious of their own soul and the ones that surround them.

Unnervingly beautiful. That's what Jeongguk thought of the red moon blazing in the sky like it was covered in an inferno, as if it was a battlefield covered in flames, it's cratered surface littered with remnants of the vast destruction and loss caused.

The silence of the night was broken by the sharp ringing of his phone, displaying a name that he didn't wish to hear from, not only to forget about his own misery but also for the other side to have never felt the compulsive need to call and require his presence at such an hour. At times like these, he wishes to return to his childhood and never grow up even if it meant to be surrounded by people whose existence he now detests more than anything else in this world. He would do anything to have his mother back.

With one last glance at the sky, he picked up the call, entirely unaware that the same moon which always emnated placidity and made him feel a little less lonely would be the reason behind him stumbling upon all that he had sworn to never find and be a part of.

And now that months have passed since he came back for taking over the pack, he can certainly and bitterly say that the trajectory of his life changed for the worse after the eclipse.
